Is anyone else considering testing?
I certainly am. I know that I would be able to handle a "normal", healthy baby, but absolutely not anything more at this point.
My m/w suggested the Nuchal Transparency ultrasound along with bloodwork. This can be done between 10 and 13 weeks, and you get results in 2 days. This seems like a good option.
I'm also looking into Chorionic Villus Sampling. This can also be done between 10 and 13 weeks, requires a needle, and is a diagnostic tool, as opposed to a screening tool. The results come back in 2 weeks, but it seems like it tests for a larger range of 'defects'....although it does NOT screen for neural tube defects....I guess you could catch that later with a detailed ultrasound.
....does anyone out there have any experience with either of these?
I'm looking for a test that can be done early, and that tests for a wide range of defects. I should also mention that I'm in Canada.
