Lilac, I agree with librarygirl that what you do in (or out) of the bedroom is nobody's business. While staying level headed can be hard, especially when it's such an emotional roller coaster, maybe a "I'm sorry, that's a private matter." is more appropriate than pointing out someone's being rude...

Librarygirl: oh dear, I'm sorry that you're going to feel like you're in a race with your cousin. I hope you can stay at peace with yourself through your journey. (And of course I secretly hope that you'll "win" this race... mischievous.gif)

How's everyone else? Lee'sGirl, doularebekah, TeamViddy?

AFM: nothing exciting to report. The first week of my 2WW is always easier than the second so right now I'm just sort of coasting.

Hello, I introduced myself in the other thread but I *think* I fit in here, though I'm not totally sure.

I'm 30, as is DH and we're TTC our first.  My mother is crazy (as in there's an actual name for it) and has been on us (mainly me) to give her grandbabies since we got married almost 6 years ago.  She's one of the primary reasons I've waited and she's still my main concern with having kids.  I thought my older brother having his first this month would help ease the pressure on me but it actually seems to have intensified it.  Just this past weekend she asked again, told me I wasn't getting any younger (I JUST turned 30 last month!) and she's concerned about me having them this late (she had me when she was 30!).  My MIL, on the other hand, is awesome and has never pressured us.  She's closer and my mother won't play much of a role (thank goodness) in any hypothetical children's lives.

I just went off bc after last month and I have no idea really about any of this ttc stuff.  I figured we'd just stop trying to prevent it but, surprise! all of the sudden, we kinda want to be more active than that.  I have no idea if I O'd this cycle or not but if it's generally supposed to be 28 days from the first day of AF to the next then AF should be coming today but it doesn't really feel like it's coming.  I know there was some DTD around the time that O would hypothetically occur but I'm not sure about specific dates and whatnot.  There was a very very slight amount of spotting a few days after that and now I'm having some symptoms that could either be PMS or signs of an impending BFP.  I figured if I didn't get AF this weekend I'd test as I'm feeling nauseated, tired, and experiencing some pressure (not really cramps but occasionally) in the uteral area (yes, I totally make up words).  I've been taking prenatal vitamins shortly since stopping bc just in case.

So yea, that's where I'm at.  Trying to learn as much about ttc and waiting to see (and a little weirded out about my sudden change in baby desire).  I kinda hope I get a BFP right away before I have time to google terms like mucous plug and bloody show and change my mind...

AmandaLynnH, welcome!  I hoe your stay here is short!  We will be looking forward to a BFP for you soon, if not in the next couple of weeks.  The length of cycles can be 28 to many more days.  I think my cycle lasts about 35 days.  You may want to consider using a program like http://www.fertilityfriend.com that allows you to chart basal body temperature, other signs like egg white cervical mucus that tell you when you are fertile and could get pregnant.  I love it because it gives me an idea of trends in my cycle. My DH and I are struggling with male factor infertility but things are on the way up. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/LilacVioletIris

AFM, Today I got great news for me and especially for my DH!  The fertility clinic called today, the nurse had the doctor look over our chart, and the Dr said that DH doesn't have to freeze any more sperm and that we can schedule our IVF at any time.  thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif Now just to wait for DH's educational reimbursement so we can get the IVF scheduled.  I am excited and happy!

Lilac that is awesome! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you! I hope you get your little one soon!

Just popping in to say yay for Lilac!  Here's to a short IVF journey and a beautiful BFP in the very near future for you and your DH!!  smile.gif  The great thing about visiting a fertility clinic is that once you do get your BFP, they will do early monitoring.  I found that to be very helpful and affirming since it's easy to get neurotic those first few weeks.

Hello to everyone else!!

Also, we are having a BOY!  joy.gif

Yay! Lilac and Pitch. How exciting for both of you!

AmandaLynn- welcome! seconding the recommendation of fertilityfriend to start knowing your cycle and what to expect.

Appointment with CNM this morning was great. We have been NTNP for a few months and plan to actively start trying this month (this weekend). I've been charting for almost two years so I have a clear picture of my cycles. I also took a Billings Ovulation method class with this CNM last winter so she knows me and my cycles as well. I took my charts in this morning with me and when I addressed my LP and recent spotting before AF, she said she wasn't the type to make someone wait a year for testing when they clearly see a pattern/problem in their charting and she'd bet I've got low progesterone. I go in for blood work 5 days after O this cycle and if that confirms it, she'll give me a Rx for progesterone so hopefully we can get a sticky BFP sooner rather than later! She said everything seemed good to start actively trying and even told me to get a bottle of wine and chill with DH this weekend (I won't, but still fun).

CNM (who doesn't attend homebirth but supports homebirth mamas, encourages no interventions, and has one of the lowest c-section rates in the area) is in the process of opening a birth center and I was telling DH about it, trying to explain difference in birth center and hospital and what I might think about doing. I said, "Or maybe I'll just stay home and give birth in our bathtub." To which he responded, "Maybe you should stop bathing the dog in there, then." :)

I feel like I'm surrounded by the most supportive people in the world right now.

good luck everyone!

Lilac - That's great news!  Pitch - Congratulations! AmandaLynnH - Welcome to the group!

I'm in a holding pattern until my appointment Tuesday, and waiting to see what AF will do this month - hoping it might be closer to a "normal" length.  Just started doing the Whole30, my dr recommended it as apparently it often leads to major improvements with PCOS.  I'm 5 days in & am down over 7 lbs, combined with my earlier efforts this month it adds up to almost 14lbs lost this month - hoping that helps as well.  I have a long way to go, but every little bit helps.

Hi Everyone,

LILAC!!!! Yay, so happy for you! Sounds like things are really moving :)

Boots, congratulations!

AFM, 32 days is my new normal cycle and I am on CD 32. Because DH pulled out the two weeks in the middle of my cycle, the chances are SO slim that I am pregnant. There is no reason for me to obsess. Yet I'm still anxiously awaiting that pink smear on the TP. I wish this stuff wasn't so crazymaking.

Lilac, that is SO awesome. You have been through a long journey thusfar and I'm so glad you are taking the next step. I am wishing you a very fast BFP! You have been so great at keeping this thread going and it's a tradition here at MDC, love.gif It means a lot to us "grads"! :)

Pitch, congrats on your BOY! :) Yay team blue!

I am happy to see a bunch of new members and wishing you ALL tons of babydust. We need some new prego bajingos!

Ah, pitch that is exciting news! A little over half way to the finish line for your with your boy, right?

AFM, man, I was looking at the list of pregnant bajingos and January 2013 is the last ones.  I know that FF has just given me dotted lines, had a high temp than a couple lower ones then back up to a high temp.  It is giving me a "EDD" of May 2013.  My sister who finally got pregnant at the end of last month month told me her doctor told her to "think baby thoughts and be around babies" during her TWW.  So I have been thinking baby thoughts, since there are no babies really anywhere near me.  I am hoping that DH's plea for "his educational reimbursement to pay for fall classes" will mean that tomorrow he gets the check.  His company has some new computer system and everything money wise has been back logged if it is "out of the ordinary".  I am hoping for a October IVF cycle or a November IVF cycle.  Would love to share pregnant news with family at Thanksgiving.  Here is to thinking baby thoughts.

Ok, I know that this is my first month not taking the anti-baby pills so it's going to be weird but I have no idea what my body is up to.  I don't remember how long my cycles were before I got on BC but I know they were pretty regular, possibly slightly long but not freakishly so.  I'm currently on cycle day 32 with no sign of AF.  Theoretically, we did the BD at a good time if I followed the middle of the cycle thing but after reading all 20 lessons on FF, I'm pretty sure my CM was the wrong kind (but who really remembers if they're not paying attention to that two weeks ago?).  I've been having w to ewcm for the later part of last week so I figured maybe I was just ovulating late, to be expected when coming off the pill, right?  But now my temp has dropped instead of going up.  Granted, I'm using a regular thermometer and our bedroom temp also dropped, and I was temping several hours earlier and actually while in bed this morning instead of after a trip to the bathroom and downstairs like I did this weekend.  I think I found my cervix too but I'm getting mixed signals there too.  Parts feel firm, parts soft.

Sigh, so I have no idea what's going on, if there's even a possibility that I'm expecting, or when to expect AF so we can start again.  Course in the meantime I read more about pregnancy and labor/delivery and think to myself 'I've made a horrible mistake!  Who would want to do that?!?'

Ugh.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.  Sending baby vibes your way.

Lilac, keep fighting the good fight! I hope you guys get to do your IVF cycle soon! It does seem like it's been quiet here and in the zen thread.

AmandaLynn: I find that my temps are affected by having the cooler on overnight or not, significantly so. The time will certainly influence things if it's a lot earlier than usual. For the cervix I find it hard to distinguish between soft and firm but the position always gives it away for me. I read though that after O it goes back down so if you missed the high position you wouldn't know for sure just from checking position where you are in your cycle. Have you been charting for a while or did you just start after stopping BCP?

Lee'sGirl: what is Whole30? Is it 30 days without sugar? I couldn't do that. I can limit my sugar intake but zero drives me nuts. Good for you though for making the commitment and seeing the health results!

TeamViddy: you never know... I totally feel you though, TTC is a stealthy obsession that takes over your life...

AFM: Not sure where I am. I'm only 7DPO but temp dipped this morning which usually means AF is coming. I refuse to believe it till it starts. I keep hearing that awful Lenny Kravitz song in my head: "Baby it ain't over till it's ooo-veerrr..."

Hi Dakipode!  Thanks for the reply!

I've just started charting, really in the last week and just started taking my temp this weekend.  We did have a bit of a temperature change in the room last night vs the other two nights and there was a pretty significant difference in time as I've been sleeping crapily (I think due to allergies that I just developed)  so I've been sleeping in til about 11 on the weekends whereas today I got up around 7 for work.  I thought I O'd sometime last week so it's possible that my temps this weekend were elevated and I just didn't know since I just started charting them.  No idea though and no idea how long to wait before testing.  I should have gotten AF, assuming that  my cycle returned to normal right away, last Thurs.

AmandaLynn, I think it can take a while for your cycles to resume any sort of regularity on their own, that is not to say that you can't get pregnant right away. My cycles have been wonky ever since stopping BCP over 10 years ago... greensad.gif

The other reason I asked about charting is because it has certainly been a learning curve for me. I understood the theory and all but seeing my own cycle pattern develop took some time. Now I feel like I have a good idea of what my temps mean and this is my 6th chart.

I hope you get some answers soon.

Amanda, I think the biggest thing with taking your temp is making sure it is a similar time each day.  I have found that within an hour either direction has little effect on my temp.  More than an hour late, and it is always higher.  Since you have just starting temping, you probably need to wait a few weeks to see any trends.  Also the first month I was off BCP, it was a cycle of 37 days long and I didn't ovulate until day 25 (so you may very well have seen ewcm last week and ovulated then).  Of course everyone's cycle is different but I would figure wait a couple more weeks before you test.  Better to wait it out than have confirmation that it is a BFN on a home pregnancy test especially since it is your first cycle off BCP.

Dakipode, stealthy obsession indeed. That's a great way to describe it.

CD 34, negative test this morning with FMU (unsurprisingly). Come on AF-- I never really look forward to you these days, but please come!

Thanks everyone for the input.  I think I'm finally seeing some changes either towards AF or a BFP, depending.  My guess is that my weekend temps will be outliers as I am not waking up at 7 just to temp on a Saturday morning.  Temp is up slightly and there seems to be a change in my cm so at least we've got some progress one way or another.  If I O'd last week or this we probably timed things pretty well.

Question though, if you don't O, how does your body know to send in AF?

Lilac, I missed your news when I was in the hospital, but I wanted to let you know how happy I am that you can move forward! joy.gifI'm hoping this is just one of many positive milestones for you and your dh.

I'm rooting for all you ladies and hope to see many more bajingo grads very soon.

Amandalynn- temp charting doesn't work unless you get up and do it at the same time every day. And before getting out of bed, even just to pee. You really don't want to move at all if possible so you don't disturb your basal temp. Leave the thermometer by your bed (and get one that remembers the last temp). When the alarm goes off, reach over, grab thermometer and stick it in your mouth. when it beeps, set it back on nightstand and go back to sleep. When you wake up later, look at the temp and record it.

If you don't O, eventually your hormones (estrogen and progesterone) will drop enough to signal AF to start anyways. It's usually a longer cycle though. If you do some research about anovulatory cycles, you can find out lots more.

AFM, been enjoying our first active TTC cycle and I'm sure it's TMI but I've got obscene amounts of EWCM today. Headed home from work to see DH and get busy in just a bit. I figure I'm due to O in the next day or so. FX'd!
