Tricks to help with m/s?

I ALWAYS get morning sickness--at least 3 months of feeling on the verge of puking 24 hrs. a day. Yes, it could be worse and I could vomit every day for 9 months, I know....but I want to feel better! Why do we get sick? What is the purpose, and why do some women NOT get sick?

Anyway, can we list tricks that really help? Crackers and ginger do not do it for me !!!

PreggiePops

I had HORRIBLE ms with my dd ( but not with my son.. and so far, not this time either!)

The ONLY thing that really worked for me was avoiding strong smells and sucking on hard candy ( especially citrus flavors). I was sick until about 19 weeks, so I stuck with sugarfree lemon drops and things like that.
I hope you find something.. ms is just ICKY!

Have you tried PreggiePops ?

check out Susun Weed's book "wise women herbal for the childbearing year" It has some great remedies for m/s. I suffered horrible from m/s with DD and in anticipation of this pregnancy I did two liver cleanses. The liver processes the hormones, so if it's not up to par, m/s is definately worse. You can use foods like eating dandelion leaves in your salad and eating fresh greated beat and apple to support you liver. You can also take milk thistle, drink a lot of rasp leaf tea and nettle tea.

With DD I was sick from about 5 weeks to 3 days after her birth. The only thing that kept me alive was Zofran. I was even in the hospital for 7 days at about 8 weeks because I had lost 15 lbs (I didn't have any to loose). There were no other tricks that worked, vit b, crackers, ginger etc...

So far with this baby, I have no m/s. I feel really good. Keeping food constantly in my tummy, helps. I feel like I eat all day, but it's better than being sick. Protein helps too. Something like cheese, cooked egg of any way, gardenburger (my favorite)... I would take my Zofran in a minute if I needed to, though. I suffered enough with DD for 10 kids!
I started too late in life for 10 kids though... Ha ha!

I'm scared to death this will come back-- I was completely incapacitated the first time, for long into the second trimester. So far it's only minor. Nothing helped much last time. I'd suck on lemon slices so I could drive with out throwing up, or chew on candied ginger. Lost most of the enamel on my teeth from the lemon, and ended up with diabetes, so forget the sugar this time. I had to move because my apartment smelled. That helped more than anything else Has anyone tried anything homeopathic? I had something help for seasickness once, I assume it's safe for pregnancy? I don't know what it was specifically.

My mw is suggesting going for a walk everyday. She said that part of the problem has to do with increased blood flow, but your body has to catch up with itself...I know I am not explaining this right. But she recommends walking for at least a mile everyday...it is supposed to help. Debi

Thanks everyone for all the responses! I was wondering if eating dandelion was ok--I had heard the liver thing before. I was drinking this great tea with raspberry and nettle--but I just "can't" now it sounds so gross! Boy, I wish I felt like walking. I need to get my double stroller out and clean it up and start walking, I know that would be good for me!

Thanks!

Just popping in to roll in some baby dust!!
I was terribly sick with my last pregnancy, out of desparation I had a friend of mine who is certified in hypnosis to try hypnosis on me.... It worked--and I mean well!!
You can get a script on Hypnobabies.com by joining their Yahoo group.
I still felt a little queasy but no longer vomitted and could actually eat more than one type of food at one time.
PM me if you need more information.

I am having terrible 'evening sickness'. It comes on about 4:00 and then I am just shot for the night. I am getting terrible nausea and intestinal cramping. Today I'm going to try to eat more good stuff earlier in the day, since yesterday was a bit of a nutritional wash. Like Morwenna, once it hits, walking or eating papaya, or drinking ginger tea are the LAST things I want to do. Sleep is the only thing that helps!
