How Many?

My daughter was 7 months old and (unfortunately) no longer breastfed and had started purees by the time I started cloth last time.  I have no clue how many diapers I need for a newborn!  I'd rather just do all small and OS Bottombumpers but SO has vetoed this idea because of cost.  The new plan of action is to get Green Mountain Diaper prefolds and Thirsties size 1 covers until LO can fit into OS diapers like Bottombumpers.  How many do I need?  The plan is to use the newborn prefolds as doublers once they're outgrown.  Should I get 24 infant prefolds and only a dozen newborn prefolds?  I don't want to buy 24 newborn if the baby will only be in them 2 weeks kwim?  How many covers do I need?  The plan is to wash every other day.  We want to go as little as possible but we don't want to be running out either.  Thoughts?

I went with 1dz gmd orange and 2dz yellow.

I had the opportunity to sell my orange at 6w. The yellow were fitting fine by then. I used just the 2dz till dd was 10m.

Dd was predicted to come early so I was expecting a very small baby. Otherwise I would have gone with yellow gmd from the start.
