Our youngest was a solid week old before we knew for sure what her name was going to be! We'd like to have it a little more narrowed down this time! We like somewhat traditional English/Irish/Scottish or similar names that are NOT on the top 100 lists for the previous year. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of names that I love on the top 100 list so that's a bummer! It's a good thing we've had all girls so far - we've never had a boys name picked out!
Anybody thinking about names yet?
We have our names picked out pretty much (still need a middle name option for the boy choice).
I am superstitious especially after a loss last month so want to wait until we have seen baby's heartbeat and are much further along to share or verbalize our choices.
The girl name is a French one with lots of nickname possibilities and is not ranked in the SSA top 1000. The middle name is a nature one.
The boy choice is also a nature name which isn't ranked in the SSA top 1000.
We tend towards more old-fashioned but "eccentric" choices (according to the Name Nerds naming style quiz I took).
That's a fun site by the way for getting inspiration...lots of lists.
Another fun one is Nymbler.
Oh, I've been going crazy on the baby name websites! I'm just the kind of person where I need to have a name and know the sex to start to feel a closer connection to the unborn baby, so the sooner the better for me.
With my boys, I grew tired of people always asking if there's a name yet, and I tried keeping it a secret with my first. This time, I want to be able to announce names when I announce the pregnancy.
I'm thinking Flynn for a boy, which is very uncommon as a first name, but still a recognizable Irish surname. It means son of the red-headed one, which dh and I are.
For a girl, I'm thinking Vivian.
The names aren't set in stone, but I love them, and dh said he doesn't see anything wrong with them, which is as close as we get to a yes!
Our daughter is named after my husbands Nonna who is 91 and still alive. It's been a blessing to have the two of them be able to have so much time together. We plan to name all of our children after someone in the family. If it's a boy we will use my fathers name. We haven't figured one out for a girl yet.
With 6 kids and a grandbaby, we've used up 9 letters of the alphabet. Our family's rule is that NOBODY can share a first initial, that way I save time labelling everything as they grow. :)
I was really looking forward to another Greek mythology name, but so far there isn't one that floats my boat. We'll see. :-) I love the name Wolfgang, but we have a child with a "W" name already. :)
