Is anyone familiar with a liquid prenatal vitamin (perhaps sold at Whole Foods)?
What supplements are you taking? - Page 2
I'm another one on Rainbow Light. I also take a Potassium pill once a day, because I have a mild heart issue that is helped by extra potassium, and most vitamins have next to none.
I found RL to be the best vitamins to help prevent constipation. Some folks I know used to take the little, 8per day Rainbow Light vites, but I can't even find them now in our health food section.
I tried a liquid with my last pregnancy.. Nature's Plus. I think I ordered through Amazon. It was ok, but I think it might have had freakishly high levels of something because it made my urine pretty much glow. I know it's just your body flushing out the extra vitamins, but it just weirded me out having it happen every day.
If you're looking for horse-pill alternatives, I've also tried the Vita-Fusion gummies; very delicious like sour patch kids, but it doesn't have iron, so I just bought BellyBar's chewable vitamins to try out.
That's what I was looking for this time, but I"m allergic to carrots...and black carrot powder is in every gummy vitamin I've looked at.
So, horse pills it is!
In addition to my prenatal, my MW suggested I get on a vit D3 (which I usually take anyway) because so many people in the North West are really deficient (especially in the winter) a calcium-magnesium (she said to take it at night because it's a slight muscle relaxer and can help you sleep better) and a pro biotic. And, of course, since I expect to be extremely anemic (I've been chronically anemic pretty much my whole life) we talked about different dietary sources of iron as well as herbal supplements (black strap molasses, nettle tea, etc) to help keep it in check.
