My baby girl is here! She was born on august 1 at 1:18. she weighed 8.10 and was 21.5 inches long.
My labor from start to finish was about 34 hours long. I was stuck in back labor at 6 cm for about 14 hours. I transferred from the birthing center to the hospital for pitocin and pain relief at 4am, after trying breast pumping and castor oil at the center.
At 12pm I was still at 6cm, and mercifully on an epidural.
She was born via C section and we found her transverse and posterior. no way that 8.10 pound baby was coming out on her own.
Despite the fact that this birth could not have been more different than what I had envisioned, I feel very positively about my experience, knowing I did everything I could to avoid medical intervention, and allowing myself to feel gratitude that the interventions were available in the end. I don't feel like a failure bc I could not deliver her vaginally. I feel like a hero for enduring the pain of back labor for so long!
She is perfect! She is nursing like a champ and my milk has come in. she was the talk of the town at the hospital.
Good luck to all the july mamas (even though she is an august baby, I'm still sticking with you guys!)
I have a lot of questions about C section recovery, but i'll ask away tomorrow if any of you have experienced it.
YAY!
