My 3.5 year old son is incredibly particular about certain things... I thought it was funny for a while, but now I'm starting to worry a little bit. He can not let things go once he's latched on to them in his mind. I'm torn, because I don't want to encourage the behavior by giving in to his unreasonable demands and aversions, but I don't see how to correct the behavior either or whether it requires discipline of any sort at all? I'm thinking it might be his way of asserting control in his life... we have a new baby in the house (6 months old) and his grandfather recently passed... so lots of change in a small period of time. But it's still incredibly frustrating to put up with on a daily basis and I'm losing my patience.
Has anyone had similar experiences with their toddlers? If so, how have you addressed it? Is this just a stage (I hope)?
