I have lots of braxton-hicks. Sometimes they are pretty painful. At the very least, they make it diffcult to walk and sometimes I feel short of breath during them. Which sucks because they are often the worst when I am walking a bunch. Like through the grocery store. I find that resting makes them lighten up and a bath will stop them.
We pretty much have a name picked but I'm still not 100%. The girl are pretty much sold that it's her name and I'm sure it is. We've gotten a lot of negative feedback so we stopped sharing. The name we have is Noralie (Norahlei, Norahlie, Noralei? haven't decided no spelling). Pronounced like Loralei. We'll just call her Nora (h?). Middle name TBD. We're still tossing around names, but this is the only one that has felt right.
When I worked as a midwife, we used the herbal bath shortly after birth and put mom and baby in there. It is the sweetest thing. One mom asked me one time how I could watch mom after mom go through the pain of birth and still want to have kiddos. I told her to wait for the herbal bath and she'd know. When she was in the tub with her baby, I checked on her and she looked up from her baby at me and said I totally get it. That's probably something I'm saddest about with not getting my homebirths. My midwife this time says that they will do the herbal bath at the hospital. I was super-excited to hear this. I also have the possibility of a waterbirth. But given my history, I'm not betting on it.
The midwives I see now are a group of 5. They have support group type prenatal care. You have your appointment time individually, but then you meet with a group of other moms due in the month and discuss a topic. It's called centering. With my centering group, it is led by the same midwife each time. I adore her. I get whoever is on when I go into labor which is kinda sucky. I've met one other midwife and really liked her. I'll meet the rest in my last month.
Anyway, she called me yesterday with some concerns. I have had issues with high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia with other babies. So I'm being watched closely. I have had some pain just below my right boob, so I mentioned it. She checked my urine on Thrsday and it was okay. My bp is holding steady and minimal swelling. I'm still below my starting weight. I gain and then lose. They had me do a 24 hour urine and labwork for PIH 4 weeks ago. She said my protein was elevated in the 24 hour urine, but my liver enzymes, etc were ok. She is sending me to a perinatalogist to get his thoughts. I'm sure she's being extra-cautious, but I'm freaking out a little. I was induced and had magnesium and a bunch of other stuff I didn't want last time. I was really hoping to have a nice birth this time and get some of the stuff I've always wanted since this will likely be my last. I'm always worried that this starting this early will lead to an early delivery. Trying to just see this as a precaution that it is, but I can't help but worry a bit. Thanks if you read all that. Didn't mean to get so long.
BTW, I'll be 28 week on Wed, which is also my birthday. So the elevated protein showed up at 24 weeks. The midwife said she'd like to repeat the 24 hour urine and bloodwork at my next appointment on the 16th.
