Does anyone live in the NEK of VT? We are thinking about moving there, maybe.

Our family owns 250 acres of land in Sutton, VT that is basically just sitting there, so they've offered to let us build a house on it. I've always wanted to have a bunch land, and without this there is no way we could ever afford it, but I'm not sure how I feel about moving to the NEK. I grew up in the teeny town of Walden and I feel like to move to the NEK now would be too isolating for us. I'm really going back and forth about this. Does anyone live in the town of Sutton or the surrounding area? What kind of community is there?  Is there anything fun going on in Newport or St J? Those would be the closet "cities" to us.

While we don't live in the NEK, we did when we first moved to Vermont nine years ago. We lived in Lyndon. I'm out of touch with the area now, but there is this great website that helps to keep parents connected. NEKMoms.

The NEK is a great place! Sure you would have to drive to Littleton to get your walmart fix, but there is so much going on in all the surrounding towns that I rarely have to go to burlington even. Feel free to PM me when you move to the area.

Thanks, I think we've decided we'll put it on hold for now and think about it again in a few years. We camped there for a while to see how we felt about the area and it's beautiful but we feel like it would work better when the kidos are a little older.
