Movement - what the heck is she doing in there?

Sprout does this thing sometimes that makes it look like my belly is breathing.  It's a gentle, rhythmic in and out motion, like she's actually breathing in there.  I know they practice by moving the fluid in and out of their lungs, but I can't imagine it would be so noticeable.  So what the heck is she doing?

Has anyone else experienced this?  Or does your little one do something that makes you scratch your head?

Yes, mine does something very similar which sometimes makes me worry he's going to come out w/a chronic "twitching" problem!

At least once a day, there will be a period where right around his butt (or the upper half of my belly) I can feel a very strong, rhythmic "pulsing" - always makes me wonder every time what the heck he's doing.  Sometimes I think it could be one of my own abdominal arteries b/c it is so fast and rhythmic (keeping a perfect consistent "beat").... but then it seems too strong to be my own pulse.  I've ruled out hiccups, which are more random.  Such a mystery!!!

My baby does the same thing. I just figured it was some gentle stretching or something. I wouldn't be too worried about it. It happens all the time for me!

Count me in.  My jelly bean does it at least once a day.  She also seems MORE active now than at any point during the whole pregnancy.

I've had a huge uptick in activity lately, and I definitely had this rhythmic pulsing going on.  I thought that it was hiccups, do they not have a consistent pattern?

What I get is different from hiccups.  I get those too, they feel like fast little ticks.  This other thing is slow movement in and out, like breathing.

Funny that the rest of you are feeling more movement lately.  I'm noticing less and less.  Due to the crowding in there, I suppose.

I'm feeling tons of movement. I expected it to decrease but it's definitely stayed pretty steady, if not increased. She's a squirmer! I haven't noticed the rhythmic movement you mentioned but I do notice slow gentle movements that feel like she's feeling around in the dark. :) And then there's the stretching...ouch!

Mine is also the most active that he/she has been! I am loving it. I was actually talking to the baby last night and asking it not to come this week because I am so much enjoying the movements and watching my belly.  I LOVE my belly!!  I could do without the extra weight everywhere else (thighs, I'm looking at you) but that belly is just amazing.

The stretching probably isn't stretching - that's what BH feel like before you realize that they are contractions!

It could definitely be breathing.  I can see mine breathing all the time and have had it confirmed on ultrasound during my NSTs.  The u/s tech was on the chest and saying "look, there she is practice breathing" and I said "I know, look, you can see it from the outside too".  It made her sophisticated technology seem a little lame :)

I haven't seen or felt the "breathing" sensation you guys have, but this definitely falls into the "what the heck is she doing" category--  I've had 2 times that she is moving so much that I swear I heard something.  Its like a small pop and both times I could feel her hands moving near my pubic bone.  Its almost like her fingers overlapped and made a small snap sound.  Very strange...

She's been more and more active, and for longer periods of time.  Its like the lack of space isn't going to stop her, she is just going to move those pesky lungs out of her way and move where she wants!  She used to stay still during BH contractions, but now she pushes back, she's ornery.

Okay, I thought I was nuts... cause I feel the same thing! I swear I FEEL her breathing sometimes, and I can FEEL and see her heartbeat from the outside sometimes. Those two things, and hiccups all have different feelings... it's so odd. I have to say... the breathing thing kinda odds me out, and then I find myself not breathing trying to see HER breathing. Lol!
