lost and found

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter

I found a ipod touch in a bathroom at a park. I looked around the park for a possible owner... no luck. So I posted it on craigslist lost and found. No response. I'm kind of baffled. If you lost a $200 item, wouldn't craigslist be an obvious place to check? From the picture on the homepage it looks to belong to a teen girl.

If I lost my phone, and I have, not an iphone or anything, just a simple "stupid" phone.  I would not think to check CL.   I'd figure it gone.

Is there a "home" or "mom/dad" listed in the address book?   I would make a phone call on the phone and let them know you found the phone.

Not everybody goes on Craigslist.Post a sign in the bathroom where you found it, but be vague enough about the item so they will have to give you enough info so you know they're the one who lost it.

I would never think to check CL for an item I lost. I agree with the pp's, post a sign in the bathroom and/or see if there is any info on it that could help you track down the owner.

If you found it at the park I'd turn it into the parks & rec dept, or at least tell them you found it. If the kid got home and realized she didn't have it she'd most likely go back to the park to look for it or call the park service. I'd never check Craigslist, either. I only go on there when I'm looking to buy something or for yardsales, etc.

ITA with the others. I wouldn't think to look on Craigslist for a lost item. If I found something like that, I'd try calling some numbers listed in the contacts if the phone has a charge. Oh wait, an Ipod isn't a phone, lol. I don't know what kind of info would be stored on one but I'd look for some. And I'd post a sign with a vague description of the lost item where I had found it.

I'd put a sign in the bathroom that said this;

Hey, are you looking for something? I turned it into Parks and Rec.

and then put the parks and rec phone number.

 This. Perfect wording.

Can you go into the Ipod and check the user information? Their email or something might be in there.  Or a phone number? There is usually and email ap or a contacts area in utilities.

My DH lost his iPhone. It has a tracking device so that we can find it, but it has to be turned on to do so. It's been more than three weeks, and it still hasn't been turned on so that we can find the darned thing.

It never once occurred to me to check Craigslist...maybe I'll do that...lol
