When I woke up on Sunday morning, I felt a twinge of a crampy contraction and the thought occurred to me that maybe baby WOULD come on the long weekend after all! We had a very regular day around the house/farm, I did tell DH that I thought something might be happening and I went ahead and made the birthday cake around noon *just in case*. Between resting and working, ctx. were sporadic between 10-30min apart.
The kids wanted to sleep in the tent that night so we got them all set up, but a little while later they ended up back in their own beds. Once they were finally settled in and asleep, labour officially kicked in - just like the last two times!
Things seemed to be progressing a little bit quicker than last time (which was 4 hours), but both DH and I were pretty tired and just wanted to go to sleep. We both ended up sleeping between contractions, and during contractions I just wanted to be walking and mobile. I tried a couple times to lay down but that was a no-go. Finally I threw up (jello before bed was a good choice) and had the chills/shakes for one contraction, I called that as transition, then I had the brief thought about how I just didn't want to do this anymore, I just wanted to SLEEP. It really was ridiculous how obsessed I was with getting the baby out and getting to bed :lol
After another 10 minutes I officially felt pushy, 3 or 4 pushes later and suddenly baby G. was out! At that point it all seemed so fast!
He was very serene, after a couple minutes he squawked a bit and that was it. The kids never woke up which was great too! We did a quick clean up then headed back upstairs, it was very surreal to be back in bed just 3 hours later with a new baby. The following morning was a bit of a blur since we were so tired, but the kids were thrilled to wake up and find the new baby had arrived :)
They are all enthralled with him and he's been a very mellow little guy thus far.
My midwife came to do her checkups and measurements around lunchtime, he was 7lbs 10oz and 19.5in long, and born at 39w 2d by my calculations at 2:08am, August 6th :)
I haven't made much time to upload pics (been taking WAY too many!!) but here's one:

That's a great story, so fast, controlled, and peaceful.I hope you're resting well.
