clogged milk ducts before birth of baby? « Back to Group Discussions

Hi Ladies,

I siopped nursing my daughter early in this pregnancy but since have had what I would describe as small hard pepples of old milk in my nipples. I have tried a warm washcloth to lossen them, it doesn't work. I have to really work them loose and then they just get replaced by more. If I do nothing they get brown and nasty looking (sorry if thats TMI) anyway I am worried how this will effect my new babies. Wouldn't it be bad for them to suck out old hard pices of milk? Again sorry if this is gross but I really am concerned.  Has anyone ever expereinced this?

I have gotten this with each pregnancy and I have it now. I think it's just dried chunks of colostrum. I usually pick it out when I'm in the shower. From my experience, it goes away when my milk comes in and baby starts nursing.

Yep, I have dried bits of colostrum, too. You'll be ok.
