I'm now 40 weeks, 5 days. The pattern I've noticed over the last few weeks is that on very active days, the baby drops and I have contractions and hopeful signs that night. Then the next day (usually), the baby rises again and I have no symptoms at all. I did a lot of walking and stairs on Tuesday and Tuesday night actually felt like I might be going into labor, since I had regular-ish contractions for a few hours. They went away while I slept though. Yesterday I had horrible constipation and swollen feet and was forced to rest, and now the baby has risen a bit and I'm back to feeling not really super pregnant again.
My question is whether any of the BTDT moms have had this experience? My doula said it's more common for FTMs because our ligaments need to learn what to do, so to speak. I also heard that a strong pelvic floor can actually sort of act as a trampoline for the baby and prevent it from fully engaging. But I assume that stops once labor starts? Does the baby have to be engaged for labor to start? Or can labor actually engage the baby? Obviously, I'm trying to avoid an induction, but I can't spend every day walking up and down stairs and exhausting myself. Not sure what to do here.
