Do we want a little extra width for a mama made gauze wrap?

I've got a 5 yard piece of gauze that I'm preping in the laundry right now. I'm going to cut the width down but wonder if maybe I would want a bit more width (over the average) since the carrier is a lighter weight than something like a Didymos? I'd appreciate your thoughts!!

With gauze I'd make it a little wider than a regular woven wrap like didymos, it will likely feel a bit more cushy on your shoulders.
