Pumped Breastmilk Was Frozen - smells funny??!!!

I had my baby in May,  I knew I would have to return to work so I had been pumping and saving breastmilk in the freezer for when I had to leave him. I have been saving it in the Medela breastmilk freezer bags.

Well, today was the first full day back at work and I thawed the frozen breastmilk and poured it into bottles for his caregiver and it has a funny smell. Not like a rotten sour smell like cow's milk gets...more of an unpleasant metallic type scent? It is hard to describe. The milk was pumped in June and immediately frozen until now.

Is this safe to give the baby? Is it normal for it to have an odd scent? When it is freshly pumped it doesn't have much of a smell at all...

My sister had issues with lipase and her pumped milk smelled like vomit after it sat a bit.  Her baby wouldn't latch, so for 6 months she was tied to her pump and immediately feeding him....until she gave up and switched to formula.  Apparently she was told she could boil it to get rid of the smell...but that it was basically harmless.  Not sure about the metallic thing though....
