So I got my last ultrasound.  And its official, we now have decided that no one can decide when this baby is "due."  So I am opening it up to anyone else's guess, both as to my actual due date or the baby's arrival.

11/24/12, says the first doctor based on my ovulating time

11/30/12 says the latest ultrasound tech at 21 weeks

12/2/12 says the first ultrasound at 13 weeks

12/10/12 says my original math (which, while accurate in most cases, is way off about due dates usually)

12/12/12 says the latest ultrasound tech the first time, before she changed her mind, not really sure what she used for either estimate other than what was on my chart from everybody else trying to guess.

Other dates to consider:

2/12 first date of second-to-last period, very wierdly exactly one week long like all the others and on time, but...

2/28/12 first date of last period also exactly one week long like all the others

3/12/12 first date of normal next period that obviously did not show up on time

11/20, my grampa's birthday

12/20, my mom's birthday

11/22, Thanksgiving

In case anyone can't do the math, that's 18 days (not counting for the variability of ultrasound times, which have about a 1-2 week margin of error), or about a 2 1/2 week span.  My MW will be looking at the latest ultrasound reports in a month, and then we'll decide which date to pick for official purposes.

In case you're wondering, I don't have my own guess.  I WANT it to be the 24th of November.  I am WORRIED it is the 12th of December and baby is going to just want to hang out there until the 23rd and I'll be facing Christmas with a newborn.  And then I want it to be the 12th too, because then I have all kinds of time to not have to worry about being overdue (which is much mroe sticky for HBAC than being early, you can go five weeks early around here and its not a big deal in terms of HB).

Let the guessing games begin!  (Unrealistic guess dates by stork are also welcome).

When did you ovulate?

What information was the first dr going by? How many weeks were you at your first ultrasound? The difference between your original math and the first ultrasound is not that much (8 days). The u/s tech at our 20 week scan told us they don't change your EDD from an ultrasound done that late unless it's more than 2 weeks off.

If you had an ~8 week dating ultrasound, use that date. If you didn't, use your LMP or ovulation date.

Yep, need more info. LMP? Ovulation date? I personally go by those over USS, maybe because I've never had a dating scan. If you don't have any idea of dates I'd go by the earliest scan you had. And, I agree with the PP who said you shouldn't change dates based on late scan results - way too unreliable.

I added the below to my original post, left out in the beginning because its kinda confusing

2/12 first date of second-to-last period, very wierdly exactly one week long like all the others and on time, then,

2/21/12 first date of last period, eight days long for the first time ever

28 days exactly between periods has been the same my entire life, 7 days each exactly (except, that last one).  I forget what that means for ovulation, but normally I'm really super predictable (except, obviously, when I am about to get pregnant).

The first ultrasound was at 13 weeks by possibly the worlds least interested nurse, and the last ultrasound was at 21 weeks by  a very nice nurse who gave us both dates as "highly likely" (no reason why, I was too dumbfounded to ask fast enough before she left the room).  Everyone has been using the middle date of choice but all agree its weird and want to pick a "better" date based on the new ultrasound. Obviously, it was singularly unhelpful in that department. I know each baby comes in its own good time, this one just seems to be playing mind games with me...

I'll guess the 24th.

personally i would guess 12/2 since that is the date you got at your earliest u/s. yes i know those can be off but that early on i doubt it would be off by too much. a week at absolute most. when did you get a positive pregnancy test?

when i got pregnant this time i hadn't had a period since october and was bfing so i had no idea when i was due. based on cramping i was guessing i was due 11/2 my first u/s was between 13 and 14 weeks and she got 3 different dates from her measurements (she couldnt get the femur measurement because of positioning though) one was 10/27, one was 10/28 and one was 10/31 and told me to go with the 10/31 so at 16 weeks i had a gender u/s done and she got the femur measurement.. and she got 10/27 every time she measured. so we went with that one. i just had my anatomy ultrasound done at 28 weeks and baby was measuring 6 days ahead of that and i am measuring large for my fundal height. but based on when i took my hpt's and tested positive i know i could not be due that early. i'm pretty comfortable with the 10/27 due date..  YOUR ultrasounds really didn't measure too far off of each other either. you could go in between the two or just stick with which ever date you feel more comfortable with. it's all an estimate any way.  you can just say you are due some time from the end of november to the begining of december. i usually give people a vague answer when they ask me stating i'm due around halloween.

either way don't stress about it! :)

I would probably go with something close to the first u/s date, those tend to be less off than u/s later on. For instance, my first u/s was at 8 weeks exactly, and I measured at 8w2-8w3d. So, you can probably go with 12/2, and just assume you will give birth sometime in the 11/27-12/7 range.

Also, my last period started 2/7, and I am due 11/13. So it would make sense that you were due sometime around 12/2-12/4.

I know the day I ovulated, and the day I conceived, since I had fertility treatments, and thus knew precisely how far along I was. My kid always measures big on ultrasounds, even back at the 6 week one. Ultrasounds are goofy like that imo, and kids vary in growth. I'd go with your ovulation time or LMP personally. But even first u/s shouldn't be too far off for most people.

With certain dates and such a regular cycle I would go with your LMP. No idea why yOu had a randon 8 day cycle but I doubt it made more than a day or two difference to your ovation date.

:) Thanks for all the input everyone, I feel better having it off my chest.  Its been bugging me but I can't bring it up without people asking a zillion times "so when are you due now?" and the vague answer thing only made it worse.  We never did a pregnancy test, mostly b/c I figured I was either pregnant or got the world's longest case of food poisoning. I told DH that next time we just pretend we're due in the next month until we know for sure its *this* month, bwahahaa!

Tell people the due date is somewhere in the last week of November, first week of December. Be vague and smile.
