Had a scare Thursday night...

So Thursday I sort of helped my oldest son and my hubby move a couch.  I didn't think I did too much with it, but I did lift pretty hard at one point.  That night after sex I started bleeding.  It was really scary and I went to the ER because I wasn't going to sit around waiting and wondering.  Anyway, I got a long in depth ultrasound.  The ultrasound tech said my placenta is low lying.  The last ultrasound I had saw that too, but that doctor said no biggy it would probably move.  Well I got ordered by the ER doc no sex allowed.  Plus he told me that my placenta wouldn't move.  I think he is wrong.  I was only 14 weeks 2 days on Thursday.  I am thinking the ER doc was not very knowledgeable on ob/gyn matters.  I go to see my regular doctor tomorrow, so hopefully he lifts my restriction. :P  It was still very scary.  I have had spotting in pregnancy but only early on.  I have never bled in any of my pregnancies.  Plus when I was young I had a 14 week miscarriage, so this freaked me out a bit.  Hopefully it is all resolved.  The baby was bouncing all over the place active as anything and the u/s tech couldn't find anything wrong except my placenta was a little low...

Oh how scary! I'm glad everything is okay--and I agree, from everything I've read, there is a high chance the placenta will naturally move higher as you progress, and it won't be an issue.

Oh goodness! That is scary. Placentas do move so I don't think I would worry about that at 14 weeks. Hope all is well when you speak to your regular care provider.

My regular doctor said it is totally normal and not to worry. He said most people bleed at some point I pregnancy. He said I probably popped a blood vessel on my cervix. He did give me a 25 pound lifting restriction though...

I spent ANOTHER Thursday night in the hospital last night.  I was passing large clots.  *sigh*  I don't know what is wrong.  The baby was moving around and the heartbeat looked good.  I am on pelvic rest, whatever that means.  I have my anatomy u/s scheduled for this afternoon so hopefully they can find me some answers. I am worried about the placenta.  ARGH!!  This pregnancy wasn't planned or anything, but I really don't want to lose my baby.  :(

oh hon i am so sorry! could it be placenta previa? i would take it easy and try to lay down and stay in bed as much as possible. i had a small scare in my first trimester, i was bleeding bright red in the shower. i immediately called my doctor and went in. an ultrasound showed nothing bad or unusual, but he did say no sex and put me on bedrest until my next appointment. the placenta moved, and i am fine now.

i hope everything is okay with you. stillheart.gif

My placenta is low, but not low enough to be considered previa, at least not at the last check.  I had to call in to work and don't know what I will do if they end up ordering bedrest.  I am a little worried about losing my job.  That would be a hard pill to swallow because I have an awesome job!  LOL  I will hopefully find out more at my appointment this afternoon.

Well, I have placenta previa.  Hopefully the placenta moves up so I don't need a csection.

Anyway, she wants me to stay out of work until I have gone a week without bleeding.  That means this weekend is using up 40 hours of my time.  :(  I was saving it for maternity leave so I would be paid while on FMLA.  I am only 17 weeks if this keeps happening then I am going to use all my time.  Just gonna cross my fingers and hope for the best.  Baby looks good which is what counts.  Oh and it is a BOY!  I am thrilled.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Move placenta, move! And congrats on your healthy boy smile.gif.
