Insurance not reimbursing anesethsioglist. Any tips?

Hi,

My 2 yo old daughter was put under for anesethesia for her dental work in our pediatric dentists office, but my health insurance AETNA is not reimbursing us, as the Doctor (anesethesialogist) does not participate in any health insurance networks. We paid him cash upfront.

Does anyone have any hints on how to get our insurance company to reimburse? The reason they are giving us is that he is not part of the network, but none of these dental anesethesiologist participate, they all require cash upfront.

thanks very much.

Call them over and over again until you can find someone to help you. Explain that there is no one in network and there was no option.

Over and over again.

Insurance companies are  hard to deal with. But obviously this is usual as the guy asked for the $$ up front. Theres a chance you wont be rembursed. Sorry.

Anesthesia for dental work tends to need to be pre-approved for dental insurance to cover it, IF they will. If the doc does not take insurance, insurance is not going to reimburse you. They pay the doctor, not reimburse you.
