Handmade Halloween costumes? Decor, etc?

I just love Halloween...so very much. :) Who is getting to work on costumes? DS wants to be Waldo from the Where's Waldo? books which luckily for me is pretty basic. I'm going to get yarn today to get started on his hat, and hopefully I can find a simple enough striped sweater pattern (I'm a newbie knitter).

Anyone else? Feel free to post about your handmade decor, pumpkin carving, etc etc...anything creative for Halloween, I want to hear about. :)

I really enjoy making Halloween costumes for my DD. Last year, my favorite parts of the costume were a sparkly shirt that my DD and I made together and wings which I made with wire, pantyhose, elastic, and fabric paints. I need to ask my DD what she'd like to dress up as for Halloween this year, so we can get started on making the costume.

Good luck with the hat and sweater. I've only done a little knitting, but I like making hats because I see the hat coming together after just knitting a few rows.

I love Halloween too! Moving to suburbia has it's benefits - trick or treaters! So I'm thinking I'm going to dress up as classic witch. My husband could be Dracula and Little Man - not sure yet. He'll be just over a year old at Halloween this year, so I have to think of something easy but awesome. I'm all ears for ideas!

Decor I kind of go nuts with. I like classy, country-ish stuff - that's not an oxymoron, is it? ;-) I like to glitter things... black, white and lots of orange. I like vintage stuff. Lots of milk glass with votives inside. Glittered gourds and pumpkins and wooden letter signs. Glittered spiders and cockroaches sticky-tacked crawling up the walls. Okay - basically I like my house to look like the Halloween edition of Martha Stewart Living.
