Over the last few weeks (we don't know for sure but suspect I've been dilating, slightly effacing for a while now), when I relax the pelvic floor to go to the bathroom, I get this feeling first: It's a shift and "pop" type feeling. It feels like my water's breaking (had that happen at start of labor before) but it's not and happens several times a day when I first sit down in the restroom and relax. After that, baby's head (very easily palpated, extremely low, head down) has less fluid in front of it.
So.... I'm wondering if either I'm decently dilating and the bag shifts and bulges into the not-fully-effaced cervix or the fluid is just "popping" out of the way and his head is engaging each time? He never stays there all the time and it happens several times a day; he's still ballotable. No real reason to know, just wondered if I'm alone or if anyone else has this? Though it's my fourth, I've never felt this before and it startles me each time - like my bag is breaking. My first two, I was nearly 5 cm before heading into active labor, stayed there for weeks. The 2nd one, I was just shy of 5cm with a bulging bag for a full week.
I haven't had any pelvic checks, so I'm going off of what I *think* I'm feeling. It's just strange feeling....it would be nice if that relaxing is letting the bag "slip" and therefore "pop" into my cervix if it's decently opened at the inner OS but not fully dilated (I'm guessing 50%) outer OS. Makes sense that it could slip in, right? Like an upside down triangle shape? That would explain why there's suddenly not a lot fluid at his head whenever it happens.
Thoughts?
