New to Atlanta.....midwife, pediatritian.....Medicaid

Hello,

I am new to Atlanta and looking for a midwife (for a hospital birth) who accepts Medicaid. I have found several great looking ones but the insurance is an issue redface.gif(

I also am looking for a Vax flexible pediatritian for my kids.

Any help would be very appreciated!

What part of town are you in? I know several pediatricians, just depends on where. Also, I'm pretty sure Intown Midwifery takes Medicaid. I remember asking, and they said they take some types but not others, if that makes sense... I'm not familiar.

Intown Midwifery is NOT accepting medicaid at this time. You can try CIMA http://www.cimasalud.net/english/english.html These midwives deliver at Northside and are backed up by Andrew Dott OBGYN.

I know CIMA takes medicaid for sure.

Thanks, I had already contacted Intown and found out that they are not accepting Medicaid right now. I'll try your other suggestion, i had not heard of them yet. Thanks!

I am right near downtown Atlanta so am flexible on the pediatrtians location, obviously closer is better but I'd be willing to drive for a good one who would be flexible to work with the Vax issue.

Thanks for your help!

Hmm... that's too bad. They took it when I checked, but that was a year ago. As for pediatricians, Dr. Carol Herrmann in Decatur is good. Here is her site: http://www.rbkdoc.com/

That's the closest I know of Intown. My friends have PeachCare for their kids and use CorrectMed, which they love. However, that practice will only work with alternative vaccine schedules. They do not accept patients who don't vax at all.

I use All About Kids: http://allaboutkidsgeorgia.com/mainsite/ They accept selective, delayed, and no-vax patients.

That's all I've got! Good luck!

Northlake Pediatrics Jenny Wing. If Jenny, nurse practioner,  doesn't take medicaid, it doesn't matter because the other docs in the practice do and they will bill it under one of them even though you see Jenny. She will talk to you about vax and she is pro vax but she won't 'make' you do it. I just tell them no thanks I don't want to do that right now and it's no big deal. 770-498-9355

Glad you have a new lead! Sorry mine didn't work out.

No problem, they both looked like great leads aside from the insurance issue.
Thanks

Have you tried Jeffery Abrams in Norcross? I know he accepts non vax, not sure about Medicaid.

I am fairly certain our ped. does accept medicaid, and we delay vax, and he is fine w/ that. When I first inquired I was told that the practice supports whatever the parent decides. I've never had a problem there w/ our decision to delay or not do one at a particular well visit. He is Dr. Verras in Tucker.

Thanks again,

Dr. Kute in Alpharetta accepts No/select vax and medicaid. drkute.com I think is her site

Dr Kute does not want unvaxed kids at her office. She used to be open to it years ago, but as time as gone on, she has done a lot to encourage her unvaxed patients to find another practice. Everything from the bad mommy form to quarantining the unvaxed kids. We need to stop putting her name down, it is out dated info.

We used Dr William Stiefel III. He's in the Buckhead area and he was fine with us select and delaying vax. Though, I did move away 7 years ago, so you may want to check. He was always very good at returning my calls personally at the end of the day and he has four kids himself.

Isis ObGyn takes Medicaid and you'll deliver in the birth center at North Fulton Hospital.  Also, Dr Abrams takes Medicaid
