sarah2881: Do you have the pattern for those cute duck booties?

While on vacation I started this: http://owlsisters.blogspot.ca/2011/06/free-caramel-for-you.html / http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/caramel-2.

I figure it will work for maternity wear and afterwards, I just have to get it finished before it gets really cold out.

here you go! There were definitely some new techniques for me, but she does a great job explaining things in the pattern and has great links. I enjoy making them and have made multiple pairs for gifts.

What a great sweater for both maternity and not!

Every year I think this is the year I make myself a garment, but I never get the courage!!!!  This seems like the fitting would be a little forgiving, though.

This will be the first thing I finish for myself (if I finish it!!).  I'm doing it mostly in a medium grey with light and dark teal stripes, and maybe some blue stripes depending on how I'm feeling about it.

Thanks! I have a skein of orange yarn left over from a baby sweater I knit a few years back that is just calling for these booties.

Me, too! I have some yarn I bought when our LYS went out of business and I might have enough. I'll have to raid my stash.

Here is the blanket that I made for the baby. It is a little wonky, because I didn't understand the pattern for the first two colors. But it is the first blanket I have attempted/completed so I'm happy :)

withlittlelungs. I think it's soo cute!  I have never been able to finish any of the blankets I started.  lol.  Maybe I will try again.  You inspired me.

First, however, I am getting started on DD1 and DD2's Halloween costumes that we need for the 13th of Oct. for a party.  I'll be busy with that for a few weeks!

I am super duper excited to make things for the baby and for my little buddy toddling around. I have been pacing around, planning the patterns, and buying the material but I have to wait 'til I'm done with my thesis first. I am feeling soooo impatient though. I daydream about being able to spend his nap times knitting by the wood stove instead of typing away.

I have only knitted two and a half scarves, so I'm really a beginner. I am planning on knitting a blanket and booties. I would love to get good enough to knit a stuffed animal though.

I am also sewing my DS2 some comfy wool slippers that are super cute out of an expensive wool sweater my DH gave me the weekend he proposed to me, that accidentally shrunk in the dryer last year.

here's the link for the slippers. Love them! http://www.purlbee.com/felt-baby-shoes/

This is the top I want to make for me... Just can't find a shirt my husband is willing to part with.

Melany-  If he doesn't want to part with one of his shirts, you could get one at a thrift store!  I got a few really cute ones there for when I wanted to make DDs some dresses.  Ended up with cute shirts with flowers (something my DH would never wear). So it was win win.  I got cute flowery shirts, the girls ended up with cute dresses and DH got to keep his shirts!  :D

Writermama- Cute shoes!  They look pretty easy, too!

Very good suggestion!

Hats are super easy to knit. Grab some circular needles and just go round and round and round. XD I made a handful of booby hats for a friend of mine, but I forgot how tiny newborn heads are and they were too big!! XD I'll have to keep that in mind when I make some for this one on the way. :D

Has anyone used a knitting loom to knit hats for babies/kids?  Is it easy/hard/somewhere in between?  Would my knitting impaired hands be able to handle it??? (I am partial to crocheting and find traditional knitting difficult.)

I started knitting after being partial to crochet. What helped me to pick it up was to learn the continental style, where you hold the yarn in your left hand and "pick" with the needle in your right. The American style is to wrap the yarn. The continental style is more natural for someone who crochets.

I've never used a loom, sorry.
