I never thought of the Continential style being more suited to Crocheters, but it makes complete sense!
I'm a knitter, I don't know how to crochet unless it's to make a hat or an uneven square.
I'm a Continential Knitter, although my mom swears she taught me American/English style (and I tend to believe her since that's the style she uses.) When I picked it up as an adult (no pun intended) I must have needed to google a stitch (probably how to cast on) and saw a Continential example and ran with it.
As it pertains to this post: I haven't made anything for the baby yet. Soon.
