Preparing for Two Year Appt ... we at least want LESS vaccines or NO vaccines ...

As we prepare for our two year doctor visit soon, how to we get our pediatrician to listen to us and respect our decision?

We want only the most important vaccine(s) or no vaccines.  I'm still trying to figure out which ones are most important and which ones my children should have IF any.  They already have compromised systems and I believe vaccinating them will only harm them ... so I had least want to WAIT until their little bodies are doing better.

Any advice?

Why are you considering any vaccines if you think they will harm your children?

I think you will have an easier time with the pediatrician if you go into the appointment knowing exactly what you want. The doctor will sense any uncertainty, and take advantage of it. Unless it is a really laid back, respectful doctor, which it doesn't sound like since you are worried.

Hi.  Good point!

I'm know I want natural parenting.  One of my sons had a horrific reaction to the twelve month vaccines.  Within one month, he regressed.  He lost his language skills (was saying 5 words) and quit playing peek-a-boo and giving kisses.  It was a huge and noticeable change.

After that, I began researching vaccines.  I later found out that the son mentioned above was given all of the vaccines he needed until he was 24 months old at that 12 month visit.  At that point, the adoption was not final and I didn't have a choice although we knew we wanted to go the way of natural parenting.  Now, the choice is ours.

I do second guess myself because I've read so many different points of view.  I also have "nay-sayers" around me who have even "unfriended" me on facebook because I have said I am not going to vaccinate.

So, it sounds like it is best for me to go in with the NO MORE VACCINES attitude.  I was thinking it might be more accepted by the doctor if I said "delayed" or "selective".  I knew it would at least buy me time to become more educated and understand better and be able to communicate better my reasons for no more vaccines.  (The doctors, of course, say the regression is not caused from the vaccines, however, numerous test have been done and there's nothing that shows up wrong.  No autism, no laundau kleffner.)  We have been doing supplements and an incredibly challenging diet trying to repair and help him.  He is responding and while language is not back, we have sounds, laughs, giggles, signing and kisses and social games!

Thanks!

You can tell the doctor you are delaying, but the important thing to tell him is that you know for sure you don't want any vaccines at that visit.

I think your life will be easier if you stop telling anyone in real life about your vaccine decisions. The only people who need to know are your husband, the doctor, and the person at school who handles the registration paperwork (and I know that won't be for awhile).
