what age can a lovie be left in crib?

I'm trying to get my DD to like a particular toy, it has a bears head and then changes into a sort of cloth. I'm sleeping with it in my nightdress and tonight she fell asleep with it next to her face but then I took it away. She is 4 months and cant clear her face. At what age do you think its a good idea to leave something in the crib?

I think I put the lovey in their cribs about 10-11 months old.

We started when DD could roll over and had some control over her hands, about 6 months. Now at 10 months she has all kinds of stuffed animals and lovies.

Ok, that's good to know, it's funny she got so many stuffed toys when she was born and their all lined up waiting for her to get big enough innocent.gif

We used a similar type if lovey with my son. We started putting it in the crib with him around 10 months. Around 20 months, it really helped with the transition from sleeping at home to sleeping at preschool. Now he's over 2 and a half and he sleeps with it at preschool. Just the other day he told me how he loves his green froggy at naptime smile.gif

The only thing my DD slept with at that age ... And now at 5 months is her wub a nub paci. It has a very small stuffed animal attached to the paci and she loves to pull it out of her mouth and put back in. It has never been an issue, but I always move it away from her before I go to bed. It's more of a suck on paci till asleep type thing.

I started around 3 months, a very small lovie.

I started giving him a lovie and a medium sized blanket at 6 months.  He was a big, strong baby (who woke up a lot!) and I stopped worrying that he would suffocate.  We've had no problems.

That's so cute!  That's exactly the kind of thing I want to encourage, something that just makes her feel really cozy that we can take when wo go on vacation/visiting family etc.

I think I will def wait a few more months, she is so active at night time. Always turning 90degrees in her bed and getting her legs stuck through the bars such :)
