When are you going to wash baby clothes?

Silly reason for an entire thread, I know. But when are you guys planning to wash baby's clothes? I've got them all sorted out and put into the drawer in our armoire that will be hers. I'm itching to wash them though! I'm not due for 7 weeks. Though I'm sort of thinking she could come in more like 5. That is PLENTY of time to wash. Not sure why I want to do it now so badly.

There is plenty of other washing that needs to be done too: diapers and wipes, baby blankets, car seat cover, bouncy seat and swing covers, snuggle nest. My midwife wants all the birth linens washed and dried a specific way and sorted into brown grocery bags by 36 weeks - still need to do that. I did wash all my carriers this week though.

Great reason for a thread!

As I unpack them I wash before putting anything away. So far I've got all our baby clothes up to 6 months and the swing cover washed and put away (for about a month? I've got 9 weeks left) I figure they'll stay clean in the drawers their in, and I don't want to be doing lots of laundry when I'm huge and hating the washer/dryer - ha ha! Our storage is not in our house though and we had to change storage units about a month ago, so don't think I'm just super organized - it was just easier to bring them up and put them away washed - lol

I still need to dig out the receiving blankets, the rest of the cloth diapers, carriers and a few other odds and ends - hopefully next week.

I've been washing things as I've gotten them before I put them away.  I'm guessing I'll want to rewash a lot of it closer to time, but not just yet....maybe in a few weeks....closer to 35 weeks or so probably.

I can't wait to hear from my midwife what she wants us to have gathered up and how to package it.  She mentioned a few things in our consult meeting but I know there's more.  She had a birth during our scheduled appointment this week so I'm having to wait till next week.

I washed everything I had accumulated before we made this last move as this current rental doesn't have laundry. I just got the box of baby stuff from storage, and will have to take that down to the laundromat. I'm guessing I'll just throw things in with our normal wash...we use the same detergent for baby things as our own clothes, and everything left to wash has been washed before, so...yeah...I'll just sneak it in so that there's not some massive load of just baby clothes to haul down there.

I still have to make my order for cloth diapers...and that will be a PAIN to wash since they'll need prepping...blah. And I'll probably get going on that as soon as I receive them. I like to have everything sorted and put away well in advance especially without laundry in our apartment!

Well if you guys have washed then so can I! LOL! I don't wash separately either. I just throw it all in and use the same detergent. I think I bought baby detergent and used it for like 1 load with DD until I realized how annoying that was.

I hate prepping diapers!! I usually wash and dry them in with regular loads of laundry that I'm already doing now though.

I'm going to have hubby wash them while i'm away in 2 weeks. all the newborn stuff has been in storage since ds2 out grew it so it reallllllly needs it.

Now where it is going to live after it's been washed?   I have no idea.

I have to much other stuff to do right now to even think about it. My baby clothes are all nicely separated in bins by size, but everything from size 2 up is jumbled. We had no storage in our last place, so when the girls outgrew stuff it all just got thrown in a bag or box together. So I have to get that taken care of soon. It's a big job and I'm a habitual procrastinator so I keep putting it off. I like to buy a bottle of dreft at the beginning and wash all the baby things. Only because I love the smell. After it runs out, I just wash it with everyone else's. My mom likes to do kid laundry and keeps telling me she'll come get the baby stuff and wash it. I just have to figure out where it goes. We have 11 weeks so I'm not worried. But if you wanna do it, go for it.

I haven't washed yet, but I want to...it's something I actually have the desire to do.  So many things that need to be done aren't because I can't find the motivation.  My dipes are all here and prepped.  I need to wash baby clothes, blankets and carriers.

So I went ahead and washed the diapers and the clothes today! :-) I started feeling really overwhelmed all the sudden. We did mold remediation to my bedroom closet a week ago. The contents of my closet is spread all around the house. DH told me yesterday he thought my clothes were really musty smelling. And I started to have an allergy attack while going through some of it looking for a lost dress (I'm allergic to mold). So now I feel like I need to wash everything of mine that isn't dry clean only before I move it back to my closet. That is going to be a huge job! Add that onto all the baby and birth prep wash and I figured I ought to start something now! Washing baby stuff sounded way better than taking all my stuff down from the various places and then having to rehang it all. I'll put that off until DH is done fixing the drywall in the closet and I can actually put it back where it really goes.
