I went 4 more weeks, 4 days after my due date! This time I do not want to have any checks until I am in labor because I was sure I would go early, because of what she said based on her checking me, and was disappointed to have to wait so long!

Ignore on! Knowing if or how far dilated you are doesn't really tell you when you will go into labor.. sadly... It's good to be ready by this time anyway, just in case!

Yeeksa- thanks, I'll look into that some more. If rather baby come at 43 weeks than deal with unproductive contractions.

I just did my gbs test, they let me do it so that was good, lots easier than having to undress. I gained FOUR pounds of water weight since yesterday from all the iv fluid I was given. Baby's heart rate was 120, which worried me, but the midwife said it was probably fine and just low due to the Stadol I was given yesterday.

I was 6cm dilated when i went in for induction with dd. I wonder hiw much longer i could have kept her in me without any labor. I'm kinda glad i was at the hospital though cause once my water was broken she came fast. I sure hope i'll get a 'head start' this time around again with some dilation and effacement. I do however not really expect her to be early, even though it would be nice. I can wait until september though.

So I had my Dr. appt yesterday after my night of contractions and my cervix was closed and I am 50% effaced.  My Dr. reminded me that cervix checks really tell you nothing about when to expect labor but I was a bit relieved to hear about a closed cervix anyway.  She and I talked and we both have a hunch that I'll have another early baby.  But we aren't going on medical evidence...just a feeling!   So...who knows?!

We had our big birth team visit this morning - so DH, midwife, assistant midwife and student midwife.  Gave them a tour and they gave instructions on when to call etc. 

Baby dropped last night.  It was the first time in a month or two that I didn't have to take tums and I feel so much lighter!

I also refuse to get a vaginal exam.  I never wanted to have any additonal  "symptom" to over analyze!

WCM, hope you get some relief today!

I am so envious of those of you who dilate before labor!  It took me nearly 24 hours of contractions to get to 6cm last go 'round. Everyone seems to think, though, that this labor will be much more straightforward. We shall see. I usually consent to one check if I already have my pants off ;)  Beyond that, they're pointless.

lol i was pre dilated to like 4 cm when my water spontaneousl ruptured with my first lo and i still had to have pitocin and was in labor for 18 hours!  its all depends sometimes ^_^ but i hope it doesnt take you 24 hours to get to 6cm this time, that sound exhausting!  i hope that this pregnancy i just get a chance to experience my body going into labor on its own (crossing fingers)

in other news ive been trying to find a midwife to see in tandom with my OB now that i have finally have it confirmed that i am not high risk this pregnancy and am fine to have a midwife to attend my birth... but it seems its very one or the other here which is upsetting as i had both last time... i really dont want to switch completelyy to someone new at 36 weeks i want the chance to have a midwife that i can have attend my birth but still have an OB on the side to help go over all my nonsense like my non stress tests and my hemo appointments and my kidneys specialist and blah blah blah sigh :( disappointing i dont know which way to go now

Thinking of you, WCM! (On the bright side, if you do go early, are we still in the time before your husband starts his new job? That would be a plus!)

Judy, congratulations to your husband- hope the ordination and trip back went well (and that you stopped for that lemonade, mmmm!).

Re: dilation, did anyone notice any relationship either way between your time to dilation and those shocking cervical pains in the weeks leading up to labor?

AFM- I feel SO FULL OF BABY. Chiro had to do a rib adjustment yesterday- first time that's come up, but totally makes sense as little one has her feet propped up against ribs in the front (and speaking of- there are some little pushes, cute). It makes it really hard to bend my torso in any way, and a lot of relaxed positions, sitting or lying, are uncomfortable.

I wish I knew what to do about these sore, stiff fingers.. they're not swollen, just painful. Guessing this is related somehow to circulation--maybe it's worse in the morning because I dehydrate somewhat overnight? Anyway, on the bright side, last night was the first time my husband slept in our bed (vs. guest room) since Snorepocalypse 2012. Nice to have him back. ;)

Yeah, it's amazing that all the cervical checks happen because of how absolutely nothing they tell you. With my second I was 42 and 5 and living almost 2 hours from the (only) freestanding birth center where I was giving birth. So, I went up the Sat before I'd be 43 weeks (and their backup would want to induce) to do the castor oil, membrane stripping thing. My cervix was long and closed. She couldn't even really strip my membranes! I drank the castor oil and we went out to lunch. I had ONE contraction during lunch, felt the castor oil start to kick in and went back to the birth center. She checked me and I was 6cm! Then I was 6cm for 20 hours before going from 6-complete in 4 hours. These things are neither predictable or linear in nature.

Hyde, Snorepocolypse LOL! And I totally understand the feeling "full of baby". 

Today is the last day of my husband's vacation! We had a lazy morning with Starbucks coffee, sausage n eggs for me, bagels for the rest of the fam. It was more of a brunch since we didn't eat until 11:30am. We watched "Hunger Games" and I was a little disappointed - it just cannot compare to the book imo. We're headed out now to the largest arcade in the county (airconditioned fun! haha).

I wish my osteopath had never made her prediction of me not making it to my appointment this week (it is scheduled for Friday).  My BH contractions are feeling more crampy - like menstrual cramps and now I am all paranoid.  I am trying to focus at work but it is so hard!

Checked my cervix again today and it has completely changed. I *think* it is because of effacement but I can't be sure. I used to be able to put two fingers (spread apart) inside of the cervix up to the first knuckle. I could reach it easily. Now there is nothing to put my fingers into and what I do feel is much higher with a ring around something smooth? No idea what's going on... I have absolutely no sigs of labor coming on so whatever. LOL

Midwife and backup doctor called me today.Told me my UTI is still not gone and they want me on another round of antibiotics. Ugh. So I'm going to get on a probiotic, too. Too bad I couldn't find that D-Mannose stuff anywhere locally. I ordered it today though, just in case.

Any suggestions for a great probiotic?

This thread is moving too quickly for me this week! I had a bit of a melt down last night. Lots of ugly crying. It was the cumulative effect of many things, but what pushed me over the edge was the discovery of my first stretch mark. I know that's ridiculous, they really should be expected, but my sister never got any so I was so hopeful that I wouldn't either. It really added to my general feeling of "how will I make it if I go to 42 weeks?" I'm so tired of sharing my body. Honestly at this point I'm counting down to that blue moon. As much as I know that's just setting myself up for disaster, at least if it comes and goes and I'm still pregnant it will be September, and my baby WILL be here by the end of the month. I now understand why so many women don't complain about the cervical checks-- I want to know if my cervix is at least responding to all the practice and especially crampy feelings, but I won't bother, that'd just be one more thing to get my hopes up. I honestly never expected to be one of those women who are able to patiently wait out 40-42 weeks (I know myself better than that, ha!) but the respect I have for those of you who are so patient (and those of you doing this for the 2-3-4-5+ time!) has increased exponentially. Good for you all!

That happened with my second pregnancy- at 42 weeks, I was having regular, mild contractions, but nothing that kept me from sleeping or going about my hazy, pregnancy fog-filled days. I was 6cm, my midwife broke my bag, and 2 hours later had my lovely baby in the pool that didn't have time to fully fill. I have always wondered how much longer it could have gone before he just fell out!

My first labor was the opposite- water broke at 37 weeks with no dilation/effacement ahead of time. Took a day and a half, but we got there without interventions.

Professional cleaners came in to my house this afternoon and detail cleaned my kitchen and bathrooms and did a "basic" clean of my living areas. They cleaned baseboards in the detail areas, the whole house is vacuumed, mopped, dusted, etc. They even vacuumed my living room furniture.

I took my kids out to lunch and then went to a chiropractor appointment, my first this pregnancy. I came home to a super clean house with DD2 asleep, and DD1 went happily into her room for quiet time without me saying anything. So awesome. I'm lying down icing my lower back as instructed.

I'm 36 weeks today, so just one week from term. I still half expect to give birth next week, but I have friends planning a blessing way for me for Sept 1, so that gives me a good reason to hope to go till at least 38 weeks.

I know there are things I wanted to respond to, but I'm on my phone, so it's hard to keep up.

mine is tomorrow! I guess the focus will be shifted somewhat now that baby is the guest of honor! Same thing happened with DS1- he was already here by the time the baby shower my mom threw happened. its almost more fun that way!

Also I am SUPER envious of your clean house. I really need to do that. (I mean hire someone, not clean my house.. )

ArtificialRed- I am having a meltdown of epic proportions tonight so youre not alone. The list of reasons is too long to even type. I just can't handle anything - the stress is taking over in a bad way! I'm sorry you found a stretch mark. Its ok to be mad about that- you don't have to embrace it all, I'm pretty sure!

FYI, I always come up positive for UTI every time I pee in a cup. I never treat (w/o symptoms) and I never develop symptoms. I'm taking a liquid iron supplement and apparently it's common for liquid iron supplement to cause the test to pick up blood in urine, which will make you positive for UTI. In 4 pregnancies, nothing has ever come of it. Since the two biggest risks of an untreated UTI in pregnancy are to end up with kidney issues and to have premature labor and I've never developed even a tinge of discomfort and have carried at least 2 weeks past my EDD, I'm pretty sure there have been no repercussions.

I'm jealous of anyone who can check their cervix. I tried today, and it's well out of reach. Of course, I can barely reach to wipe properly so that's not saying much.

I took advantage of a way to hot weekend, and got my basement sort of organized and cleaned up. Now I just need to get the main floor under control, make some space in the baby's room and we'll be all set. I'm beginning to feel, not quite ready, but sort of closer at least.

I've had some pretty good braxton hicks/pseudo-contractions over the last few days, and lots of pressure down below. Today, on the way home from our moms and tots work out, it felt like the baby suddenly weighed about 50 lbs and was trying to fall out my bum. lol. I'm hoping that means things are starting to get ready, and maybe labour will be a little quicker and a little earlier than last time.

I hope all of you who are feeling so very done get to hold your babies soon!
