Introduced bottle, lots of spit up!

We just recently introduced EBM bottle to our 5 wk DD. She's learning! DH takes it slow with lots of burp breaks for her, but after she is  spitting up...a lot. She's not normally a spitter, but a very good burper when BF. Is this normal? It seems like most of the milk comes back out. It's not right away, but many minutes after she takes the bottle and has been burped. Is this just part of the learning curve? And yes, using slow flow nips...

Welcome to MDC! I wanted to bump up your post for attention. A few initial thoughts:

--is she drinking the bottle in the same position she usually is in when she directly breastfeeds?

--is she drinking more from the bottle than she does when directly breastfeeding? This might be hard to tell, but you could see if putting less EBM in the bottle and seeing if that resolves the issue.

Thanks for the reply! She's drinking from the same position and she hasn't had more than 4 oz. (usually closer to 3) from the bottle, so I'm pretty sure she BF's more than that. From doing more research, I guess it's just she's getting milk so much faster than from the breast, even though DH is making sure to go slow and give her lots of burp breaks. I'm just hoping that it gets better as I have to return to work and will depend on grandma and DH to feed by bottle while I'm away.

Has anyone had a similar issue? Did it get better as your LO learned or got bigger?
