Anyone getting their HCG levels checked?

I felt pg from about 3 weeks (3 weeks exactly from my LMP) and got a BFP at 3w4d. Crazy, I'm still in disbelief over that. Anyway, I felt nauseous, had super tender breasts and generally felt pregnant for almost 2 weeks. Then, last Thursday *poof* all symptoms went away. I got nervous (after a m/c in 5/2010) and had my hcg levels checked.

Friday 8/17 - 13k (dr didn't give a specific number, left me a message) Yay! High number!

Monday 8/20 - 20k (nurse relayed the message. No info but "20 thousand")

Thursday 8/23 - I'll get checked again but at my request. Dr says my numbers are fine.

BUT those numbers didn't double! Aren't they supposed to double? And it was 3 days between tests, not 2. Am I legitimately worried? Or that fall in the realm of normal somewhere? My breasts are slightly tender but I've had zero nausea for almost a week.

And then again I'm ONLY 5-6 weeks! I'm going nutso! Thanks for reading... I'm feeling like an overly worried first time mom.

and no, no bleeding. Nothing. Nada. I'm good there.

Feeling like this is so not "me", I'm usually relaxed and easy going but this has me in a tizzy!

1babysmom,

Thanks for replying. I went off on a Google search yesterday and found very little information about HCG levels when they are that high... and with your response, I feel better that my high numbers are good. I had one m/c and they never went over 8k something.

I'm sorry you've had the trouble you've had. Are you pg now or being helpful? Just curious. In your opinion, one HCG numbers get that high, can I relax a little? Do babies stick when the numbers get that high?

Im 3 weeks and 6 days today (im due May 4th). I had my Beta drawn yesterday. It was 22. I got a positive CBE digi a day earlier! So weird. Anyway, my PCP said CONGRATS your pregnant and transferred me to OB (Before I could protest), the girl says, "Ummmm we need to repeat this HCG, 22 is BARELY pregnant" and orders the test. So I just got the original Beta to indeed confirm I am pregnant (which I am), I call my HBMW and she says how much she HATES Beta's, how neurotic they make women. She tells me not to have it redrawn and she will see me Sept 22nd when I am 8 weeks pregnant.

Don't worry about it too much. Your numbers stop doubling after a while. Also everyone has different results and if it isnt rising as fast as your told it should it can give you anxiety for no reason.

I had my first beta drawn today at 6w6d and will have another done on Sun or Mon.

This is due to bleeding last week and the midwives are hoping to get an idea of how things are looking while we are waiting for an u/s.  I had abnormally high levels with one of my other pgnancies so this might be interesting.  LOL

The numbers game IS making me neurotic! Today the nurse called and the number was 32k and now since they aren't doubling, the Dr wants me to come in on Monday. I actually said no thank you. I read several times online that once the numbers get that high it doesn't double in 2 days and can 4 or more.

However, I saw my rheumatologist yesterday and was told I need to see a high-risk OB (I have Sjogren's Syndrome) sooo, that's my new chapter. I'd like to get in ASAP and have a u/s done.
