Do you - personally - know anyone who had adverse reaction to vax(es)?

I had anaphylactic shock reaction to flu vaccine in Russia.

After that I had no vaccination, no boosters. I came down with mumps and it was the worst thing ever.

I will gladly take a AS reaction over any VPD.

I was finally tested in US. I am allergic to a preservative. I get preservative free vaccines. No problmes .

I do not know anyone else who had a reaction.

I went and voted no, but then I realised, I do know someone - me.

I had an MMR shot when I was 17 and I was so stoned afterwards, and felt quite ill as well.  I thought I was a bug on the wall watching math class.  In hindsight, I wonder if I had a high fever and was hallucinating or if I had a neurological reaction?

A good portion of my class was vaxxed and many seemed ill afterwards (there was a measles outbreak, so the government decided to revaccinate anyone whose papers were not in perfect order.)  Honestly 1/2 to 3/4 of my class was revaxxed, and the community health clinics were getting a per head bonus, but I digress…..

I have heard a few parents speculate that the vaccines their children received might have contributed to their child's LD - usually ADHD, but it is just speculation.

Three people.

First me, I had an adverse reaction to a typhoid shot, collapsed on the floor and couldn't move for the rest of the day. I thought I was dying. I also had a more long term adverse affects from the BCG shot I was given at school as a teen. After the vaccine I had chronic sore throats until my early twenties. I also had enlarged lymph nodes for a couple of years following the vaccine.

My sister had a bad reaction to the first DPT shot as a young baby, she experienced convulsions. My mother never allowed her to be vaccinated again. The longer term affects (autoimmune) were GERD, and chronic ear infections, she ended up with tubes and her adenoids removed.

Finally my eldest DD reacted also to the DPT, both first and second doses with the high pitched DPT cry. Health wise she was fine but she does have mild ADD which led to academic issues at school.

I voted no because although I suspect some of DD1's health problems may be vax related, I am not 100% sure because I didn't keep good enough records when my oldest 2 were small and being vaccinated on schedule so i have no documentation of issues at the time. She did have her first asthma attack within a week of her mmr shot at 15 months... First of many trips to the hospital over the years. But I didn't connect the dots till later and I would feel dishonest claiming a definite connection now after all these years.

Nope, not a one.

My son did and I know at least 2 other children who have.

my son did EVERY time he got one as an infant, and back then it was only DPT and oral polio....what i saw with my son was enough to discontinue vaxing any future children, esp when i started reading the PDR about them.   I had my mind made up before i ever got pregnant with the second child.

No, not that I know of.

Many of the children I know are unvaxxed, which is why I have an interest. With such a high percentage of friends with unvaxxed children, I worry about the safety of my children (and myself) since there's no "herd immunity" around us anymore.

myself, my DD and two others

DD had severe diarehea after being given the rotavirus vaccine at 2 months. We delayed all vaccines other than the dtap (which she had already had and had not had a bad reaction to) until she was two. We are currently getting utd on her vaccines. I plan to do the same schedule with the twins- dtap until two, then catch up.

Myself and all 3 children (but I only voted once).

I can't seem to vote from my tablet but yes my husband has reacted to multiple vaxxes, most severely the dpt.

My mouse isn't cooperating & I clicked "no" by accident, but yes I do.
I developed rheumatoid arthritis as a teenager after being given an MMR booster.  Then there's my my oldest, who had an anaphylactic reaction from his 12 month shots.  He was given MMR & IPV, and we know now that he's allergic to multiple components between the two, so we have no way of knowing which one set him off.

We have a friend (young girl) who had a allergic reaction to one of her early vaccines.  Her mother stopped vaccinating her (which I think was the right idea).

I have appropriate immune reactions to vaccines.  As your question just asked for adverse reactions, I wonder if people are citing immune responses among them.  For example- my arm is sore after I get a Tetanus shot.  As tetanus causes muscle spasms and lock jaw, a sore muscle shows the body reacting appropriately to the vaccine.  The same goes for a slight fever as a typical immune response to diseases that would cause a high fever and more dangerous symptoms.  Fevers are our way of fighting off sickness.

in my case- NO, I had a reaction to tetanus, a sore are would have been great!

that is not what happened- could not move my arm for over 10 days, I ran a fever over 104 and had Arthus reaction- the pain was so bad the meds did not work, my whole side was effected, I could not walk because I could not feel my food, I was told by the specialist that saw me to never get another one, he called it a severe reaction.. it wasn't mild

my DD's ped did report hers - he stated hers was severe

when it's not just the person reacting but a medical professional tell you that your reaction is not within the norm, it isn't

I would hope that those polling know the difference and I assume most here do

Wow Serbenbat- that sounds awful!  Glad your doc told you to never get another.  Was your DD's reaction to a shot with T as well?  Do severe reactions have a genetic bais?

I am wondering kind of for the reverse reason- My older DD had no serious reactions (same with me, DH, and sibs).  I am hoping that I have a reasonable expectations that DD2 (2 months and yet to get a vaccine) will have a similar experience with vaccines.

it was in 1990 and she had DPT-not near what I had-both hers and mine were within minutes of the shot

I know the day and date I had mine- it was for my driver's license physical and it was my family dr that knew me- I feel off the chair I was on and he told me I was fine- my mother rushed me out of there and to another dr - I was pale and could not move out of the car when we got there - the other dr carried me in- thing was the family dr was who (and this was years agoooooooooooo) my family had trusted and went to for years- I do also know the dr that saw me reported the other dr - I know this because the dr that saw me way my step-father's BFF- that is how I got in so fast and know what happened

-prior to the that I had always been seen by my family dr and at the time I ONLY got T, nothing else- and it was "well you are due for one"- fact was, I was 15 and had already had 2 prior and NO dr should have given me one for any reason!

My DD's dr knew my history and we still took the chance and it was when she was 5 and had two prior (those she had no problem with!) yet the 3rd did for her.

As for me I only have had one vac since-yellow fever, she has had none.

I'm pretty sure most of us are referring to much more severe reactions.  I know I am.

I'm not aware of anyone I know having had a severe vaccine reaction.
