*sigh* pregnancy is so romantic...vulval varicosities anyone?

I thought i was getting thrush.  Every time i was sat on the loo for more than a few seconds (and i'm pregnant and constipated so...a lot!) i would get this heavy burning feeling around my vulva - i even put some canasten on it once to see if it helped!  It was only when i was on the loo though and i couldn't figure that bit out.

Last night i finally used a mirror to look and i have a varicose vein between my inner and outer labia on the right which BURNS and itches when the area gets congested.

Anyone else enduring this?  What can i do about it?  I know it's not going to "cure" until after the birth most likely, but i don't want it to get worse if i can avoid it...  Obviously no birth stool for me!

Eat tons of fiber/dried fruits - prunes are your bff! Also, think of getting a squatty potty (weird I know) so that way you aren't putting so much pressure on your bottom when straining to poo. Also OD on probiotics if possible!

We have 1 of these in bamboo that my son and I adore! It has helped me relieve myself in SO Many ways. ALso great for the potty training set as they don't have dangly legs any longer. HTH and best of luck!

There's actually a whole "wave" in the US or EU where people are adopting more of the Indian/Asian mindset of squatting while pottying. East Indian Dr's have to study in the US to see what a hemorroid or vericose vein is because they don't happen there because people squat to relieve themselves.

Gobecgo, how are you doing? I think I have the same thing! I've thought for 2 months now that it was yeast, but it hasn't responded to any tx, and it feels like what you describe. Any luck in treating it?
