Just moved back to Michigan..Looking for gluten free food ...
Welcome back! :) I live on the other side of the state, so I can't be too specific with specialty stores that way, but I must say that the selection at Kroger and Meijer has GREATLY improved just in the last few years! I can't remember if there is a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's that way or not. I really have been pleasantly surprised with Meijer, that's where we get most of our goodies! Good luck! :)
Thanks..Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are about a 3 hour drive down by Ann Arbor..I don't know why they won't put one in the Grand Rapids area..It is big enough and the need is tremendous:( No Krogers here either..I love Krogers..that is where I bought alot of her stuff down south..But we do have plenty of Meijers..Will go check them out..Have one every which way I look:)) Thanks for responding....I am happy to be home:))
I've heard the reason there isn't a Whole Foods and Trader Joe's in Grand Rapids is because they are off the I-94 corridor from Chicago. Definitely agree they would be welcomed.
Have you tried any of the local natural markets? I know there is a small one in Holland where my parents get raw honey. There is also an Apple Valley Natural Foods in Kentwood.
I also just heard about a Gluten Free Food Fair in Lansing in October. Here's the Facebook page about it: https://www.facebook.com/MichiganCapitalCeliacDHGroup
Hope this helps!
