Brain storming - fun/creative way to tell the kids & family

I'm so looking forward to telling our kids - they've asked for a baby for nearly 4 years now. I want some fun, memorable way to tell them. So far the only thing I have is to cook a dinner with baby peas, baby carrots and bite sized food - but what else? I did find a receipt for baby cinnamon rolls in mini muffin tins. :) The other idea is to show them the sonogram picture - but again, how to do I make it creative?

I also want some fun way to tell our mothers. My mom has cancer and may or may not be here when baby is born. I want to make it special for her and not depress her. I want her to be happy.

His mom may not think us getting pregnant is the best idea so I want to tell her in a way to show we're excited.

When we were pregnant in 2010 I bought charm necklaces from Etsy and had a name/birthstone for each kid plus one that said baby with the month I was due and gave them to our moms for Mothers day. Then I miscarried. Boo.

Anyway, fresh, new Ideas?

nothing to offer, but I am interested in what others are planning.  I'm afraid that my 3yo will just declare that she does not want a sibling and declare the topic closed.lol.gif

We were in pretty much the same boat and I really couldn't think of anything fun lol. I ended up telling them after dinner (a couple of days after our u/s) we were all in the living room watching TV together and my littlest one was sitting in my lap. I leaned over and whispered in her ear that she was going to be a big sister in a few months. Her jaw dropped open and she just stared at me, super excited. Then I told her to tell her sisters what I just told her and she kinda shouted it at them, it was super cute thumb.gif

well, I have a plan!

I'm going to do a "baby" themed dinner with: baby back ribs, baby carrots, baby potatoes & baby cinnamon rolls. Then after dinner the kids will do a clue hunt which will lead them outside to the car to reveal our new family decals on the car!

This will be me:

Now, do I tell them this weekend? Or in a week or 3? eh

Since things looked really good @ u/s today, I am planning on buying an "Im the big brother" type shirt for my 3yo to wear and show my dd (6.5) who will get to reveal it to him :) and then maybe have him wear it to FaceTime with family over the weekend... we'll see. my kids always act like looney tunes when video chatting!!!! I know its not all that inventive, but thought it was cute :)

Tried to pick up some books on the topic for DD (3yo) today, but our local library didn't have anything.  Requested some books from the main branch and they should arrive soon.  Even with enlisting the help of our librarians we only left with a book about a baby Giraff and one about a baby Gorilla?!  The librarians are all really excited though!  lol.gif

We have to tell dd before her grandparents get their grandparents day cards with the news, and spill the beans for us.
