Keeping track of the weeks?

I don't know if it's because this one is my fifth child, or if it's because of the more laid-back atmosphere of a home birth but I noticed with my last pregnancy (a home birth) and this one (planning a home birth), I don't keep very good track of how far along I am. Whenever someone asks me, I have to think really hard about it.

Do you keep track of how far along you are??

I have an Iphone, and I just have up the site pregnology . com   You enter in your EDD and it keeps track of how far you are.  So, when someone asks, I can always just look at the phone.

i don't know if this is why, but i'm a first time mama, and i keep track down to the day. i'm so excited!

This is my 5th, and I usually keep close track. I love showing the boys how big the baby is and what is developing. Now that I am measuring 6 weeks ahead, it's driving me crazy not knowing how far along I am or if it might be twins.

I'm a complete dork. I decided to download the free versions of all the pregnancy apps I could find in the first month to see which ones were the most friendly to crunchy mommies. I decided that this one was what I liked best. It let me put in DOC instead of LMP for the due date: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pregnancy-++/id505862554?mt=8

this is #4 and i have a little bit harder time keeping track with each pregnancy..  I have a calendar on my fridge and i write the week# on there so i will see it occasionally and at least remember what week i'm in.. i've noticed a lot of homebirth moms on their 2nd+ don't keep that close of track - i counted down the days with my first too ;)

I keep track down to the day and I am on #2. I also have a pregnancy app for my andriod, which is nice.

This is my fifth baby, fifth homebirth and I keep track to the day. I don't know, I just find it very exciting!

lol- totally not!  since i made up my due date, and i'm a homebirthing mother of #5, it's kinda a moot point for me.  sometime, around my 'due date' which is 42 weeks, i will have someone new in my life.  i am taking pics for the *bump* thread, but it's not accurate dating for sure!!!  people ask and i'm like "um, somewhere between 3 and 4 months?  oh wait, is it four months?  i don't know, i'm having a baby sometime in February, or maybe as late as march if the baby is late."  HA.  usually that ends the conversation pretty quickly, though the more determined ones will ask "Well, when does the Dr/Midwife say you're due?"  and i get to say 'sometime in February.'  that always ends the conversation with some frustrated looks.  oh well.

i think having one baby who came sooooooo late has made me hesitant to point to any dates.  number 3 was 44 weeks at birth by LMP.  i'm not willing to get into that with my family again.  so i refuse to set dates!  it worked better last time, when i set myself a date 6 weeks out from my LMP.  seriously.  baby came only about 2-3 weeks earlier than that date.  so everyone was thrilled that my little 7lb baby was 'a little early' at 2 days shy of 42 weeks by ovulation date.

I don't track it to the day, like others said, but I do have an app on my phone so I can easily check it.  I do like to get the weekly "your baby is..." emails so I can tell my other kids.  With my first, I knew practically to the minute. I'm also telling folks "end of February" when 40 weeks is Feb 17.  I don't want anyone to start bugging me too soon.  :)

Right now, I'm fending off all the "when will you find out the gender" questions, which is always followed by a look of "moron" when I tell them that we won't be having an u/s unless medically necessary because we're having a homebirth. I guess I enjoy shocking people.  :)

I like to keep track of the weeks to picture how far along the baby is, even though I don't see the 40th week as the end date.  I'll be 40 weeks Feb. 23rd, but I always tell people "end of February," and I'm fully prepared to go into beginning of March.  I think it's also a sense of accomplishment thing: I've grown 14 weeks worth of baby now!  LOL

LOL!!!  I'm so glad you posted this.  I have felt like such a dipstick!  People ask me, and I'm all, "uh, well, I think 14?  Or 15 weeks?  Something like that..."

It's my 6th, our first homebirth, and so I've not had the "normal" visits, ultrasounds, etc., to keep track of 'when' I am.

I'm just glad to read that someone else is experiencing the same thing; I don't feel like such a looney tune! :)

I'm like you typebug! I downloaded every free app I could find when I found out I was pregnant (dorks unite!) My favorite by far, is the one you posted a link to. It has the best information and tools of any of 'em.

Plus I made my little ticker at the bottom to remind me. I have to move the little heart every Sunday night. It's too bad we don't have tickers on this site.

So glad I'm not the only one, even if I do seem to be in the minority. LOL

Heh.. I have an app on my ipad..and I know every monday I roll over into the next week.  I try give myself sanity like "its okay Michelle.. 17 weeks.. it is real.. you are doing ok!"  I look forward to each week... it gets closer.

Because I am really high risk and unless somehow went into labor and showed up at the hospital at a 9.. I am a scheduled csection.  I have been telling those even tho my EDD is 2/3.. I have said end of January because I do not see me going 40 weeks..In some ways, the natural birth believin momma in me.. wishes I would have stretched my last period date.. but I would have been nuts to do it .. like told them my last period was May 7th and not April 30th to buy myself time but at the same time.. I can not see that have been being a good decision for the health of me and baby.

Have fun Momma's!

SmtmsAlways, you might join us there- if you want :)

I was keeping obsessive track to the day during the first trimester because every day that passed was a small step in getting closer to being done with MS. Now I'm pretty lax about it. Since I'm having the 20 week scan I'm still aware of my weeks but after that I'll probably forget a lot.

I am on my 4th and keep track of my weeks by my calendar and journal. I do at least one entry for each 3-4 weeks or if something exciting happens (like my hematoma rupturing), etc. I've done it with all my boys, so not doing it would be weird. I wish I would get on the ball and finish baby books! I totally suck after the baby comes.

Oh good I'm not the only one! I found the other ones really preechy and full of "do this or you'll die" wording. I'm pretty sure that one you and I have is British.
