How long to get my BFP: About 5 months

What number child is this: #2 (biological)

Family: DH, DS (6), DSD (8), 2 rescue dogs, 2 rescue cats 

Baby's gender: Would love a boy for DH, but obviously a healthy baby is the most important

Birth plans: Hoping for a mostly non-interventionist hospital delivery; although the doctor reminded me quite often yesterday of the risks due to my *advanced maternal age* 

Anything else: happy to be joining this DDC instead of lurking!

LOL!  And another thing she said that we found weird was "Was this pregnancy, um, spontaneous?"  DH and I were like "huh???"  Isn't that kind of how it works?!?

She then explained she meant, "did we use fertility treatments?"  Nope, we old folks still got it!

Hi, I'd like to be added!  My name is Ghislaine and my EDD is May 30th for baby number 2.  I live in Vermont with my husband, little girl, and 7 ducks.  I've been lucky to only have to try once for both of my pregnancies thanks to the book Taking Charge of your Fertility.  My husband's comment was "We're dangerous".  I'm just going to take advantage of the situation to warn my future teens that "It only takes once!"  I'm hoping for a HBAC this time around.

 Kate, sounds to me like you might need a new care provider. I also read your comment on the appointment thread, and there is NO medical reason at this point why you cannot go to 42 weeks (or longer) just because of your age.

I'm 40 with my 3rd pregnancy in 3 years, so all my children have been when I am of "advanced maternal age" and I am so glad I use midwives who actually understand natural birth because I cook mine extra long. DS1 was 40w5d and DS2 was 41w1d, and I'm fully expecting this one to go at least as long as DS2. I also had a home birth after c-section (HBAC) with DS2 and he was almost a whole pound bigger than DS1 (I also grow big babies 8lb9oz & 9lb7oz) but thanks to proper midwifery care never had to worry about rushing the baby out of me before they were ready.

I do hope you get the proper medical support that you need.

Welcome Ghislaine.  My DH and I are 2 babies for 2 tries too, thanks in part I am sure to TCOYF (although I didn't bother temping with this pregnancy, just went by CM).  My husband's comment was "I was looking forward to trying for a bit longer.  It's really fun." lol.

• Birth Plans/Preferences: hoping for a homebirth (if I can convince DH!); had a natural hospital birth last time, got there just in time to push, and would rather not go there at all this time! if not at home, hopefully a freestanding birth center

I've got to say TCOYF was a saving grace for DD's pregnancy and then this one it also played a major role.  I am mailing my copy back to a friend in the US who desperately wants to be preg.  My O date is so weird, fluctuates by 4 days and when I was still eating gluten, was no where to be found .  Without TCOYF I would have never figured it out so soon what was going on.

Yes, I agree.  She said it was because there are more stillbirths if you go after your due date after age 40.  I need to look into other birthing options.  All of my friends have done the traditional hospital route so I don't even know where to begin!

Hi Mama's, I'd like to join!

I'm Jasmine, I'm 38 and from New Hampshire. 

I'm married and have a 6 year old DS.  The large gap between kids is due to a tough first pregnancy, a traumatic birth and a nightmarish post partum anxiety disorder.  Took me 6 years to gather the courage to do it again

My EDD is May 19, and I'm excited for a May baby~seems like a beautiful time of year for a new babe.  I'm hoping for a vbac in a hospital.

I'm excited to be a part of a DDC!  I was a part of one on MDC when I was pregnant with my son and some of the women still chat on a regular basis!

I'm Pauline.   I'm 36 and about 7 weeks pregnant with my second child.    My daughter, Sophia, is 61/2.    I had a miscarriage in May and am hoping for a happy,  healthy, pregnancy this time around!    I live in Portland, OR.     I joined Mothering when I was pregnant with my daughter and am glad to be back again.   I'm seeing a practice of midwives in a hospital this time around.

Hi ladies, It's so sweet reading all these stories, and knowing we are all on this journey together. I'm so sorry for your loss Orshi, sending your family love. My name is Moriah and I am 26, I got married May 5th this year, our plan was to wait a little longer but I'm really excited to be doing this now. This is our first, and the due date is May 20th. My cycles were extremely inconsistent before conception so there's a little mystery there, but the midwife I saw yesterday seems pretty sure I'm a little over 8 weeks. I'm planning a homebirth in Northern Ca on our little farm and I will be co-sleeping, breastfeeding, baby wearing, and doing elimination communication. I'm a doula and aspiring midwife and really excited for my own journey. Please add me. I'm really grateful for this online community.

Hello,  I am due 5/15/13.  It was my 4th cycle of IUI that got me pregnant this go round.  My partner had our first child who is now 2.5 years old.  I have been  looking at the threads and now I am ready to join in.
