Hey TJ, I did remember!  She said that it is made by Boreon (sp?) specifically for midwives, and distributed that way as well.  She didn't think you'd find it at a health/whole foods store or website.  So her suggestion is to try MW clinics/birth centres in your area.

Good luck!

Oh, and I remembered to pick up RRLT today too, after my apt.  So I guess I better get brewing!

I am also interested in trying EZ birth but my midwives weren't familiar with it and we don't have a birth center. If anyone finds out where it can be ordered I'd love to know.

As for supplements, I've added on vitamin C and zinc to have intact waters and on recommendation from my chiropractor I am taking an adrenal support supplement as well. I'm upping the tea I drink also.

I emailed Boiron and asked, this is the response I got:

Thank you for contacting the Boiron Information Center.

We do not manufacture EZ-Birth. However, we do sell the other individual medicines contained in this composition.

(Acraea racemosa is called) Cimicifuga in US

Caulophyllum thalictroides

Arnica montana

Pulsatilla

Gelsemium Sempervirens

Please do not hesitate to contact us with anything further.

Thanks,

So the trick then would be the composition of Ez-Birth...

I found this looking for the composition, maybe if you contact the number at the bottom of the page they can ship it to you??

I am continuing my routine from the whole pregnancy.  B-50 complex daily (my "happy pills"), Floradix when needed (haven't needed much, iron is doing great!), magnesium supplement most days (Natural Calm), and fermented cod liver oil when I can choke it down.  Also drink 1/2 C nettles, 1/4 C red raspberry leaf, 1/4 C alfalfa in two quarts water every day.  Just recommended to double the nettles to 1/2 C by my midwife yesterday (slight swelling).  I'm thinking about adding 1 C of hawthorn berry cold infusion every day to reduce blood pressure.  I haven't had problems yet (130s/80s most of the time), but I don't have room for the "typical" increase at the end of pregnancy and still be safe for homebirth.

I have been doing 2000iu of Vitamin D ea day ( i am severely low in this area or was)

1 iron tablet

just started 2000mg of Magnesium and 1000 of calcium for absorption... i have been having terrible migraines.

I may need to do the floradax to avoid problems...my mw is monitoring my iron level every 4 weeks...

And i only take SHAKLEE vitamins as i trust this company and how they are made :)

multivitamin and mineral (Shaklee)

4000mg of fish oil

20,000iu of vit D3 (I'm not low.  My doctor recommends 10,000iu as maintenence and 20,000ou as maintenance if pregnant or nursing.  I've been doing this for 8 years and my D is great, but not too much.)

probiotics

Rauwolfia Extra (Vitanica) to help keep my borderline high blood (during pregnancy) pressure in check

I want to start taking red raspberry leaf tabletsb ut haven't looked into where to get them.  I've done tea in past pregnancies, but didn't remember to drink it regularly enough.

Jr's mom - tell me about this rauwolfia? My bp creeps during pregnancy too and I would love to head it off!!

Since I'm going to start drinking mass quantities (instead of my normal 1-2 cups a day) of RRL tea, I was looking for loose leaves because it is more economical than the tea bags I've been buying for 5 bucks a box. Checked on amazon and there were a few options. Does anyone have a brand that they recommend?

Mountain Rose Herbs is the best source I have heard of, and organic. The shipping is a bit costly, but you can get a 1lb bag for $6.30 (which is a HUGE bag). http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkherb/r.html They also have a $10 minimun order, but I never have a problem finding something to add on.

I ordered 8 oz a while back but haven't been drinking any due to all the cramping I have going on.

Yep - Mountain Rose Herbs is good.  iHerb is also good.  Our local health food store sells it for like 98 cents an ounce - I probably go through four or five ounces a month, drinking 1/4 C of the leaves (packed) each day.  A pound would probably last me three or four months.

So, I'm taking a preggo multi (my local health food store brand, but I don't think it's food-based so I'm considering getting a bottle of Rainbow Lite ones at the birth center on Thurs) plus a Rainbow Lite iron pill (I was low at 10 wks, we'll see this week how I'm doing now) plus RAW probiotics for vaginal health (trying to get rid of the yeasties.) Also, just added in a good Vit C (1500 mg) plus rosehips.

I also drink at least a saucepan full of each Nettle and RRL tea each day. I've starting combining them, also just picked up Earth Mama Angel Baby's 3rd Trimester tea, which also has some other herbs in it (alfalfa and something else.)

I just realized my vit is low in magnesium. Do you guys think you can get enough mag from food? Like, 1-2 nanners  a day?

For RRL tea, I've done Mountain Rose Herbs and Starwest Botanicals, the latter sells on Amazon. Both were great, well sifted, organic, etc.. 1lb is a lot, but that's what I usually get as I just order it and then have plenty and don't have to worry about running out.

Not sure OtherMother on the magnesium, I've been taking a Calcium/Mag/Zinc/D3 supplement myself to be sure I'm getting enough.

I'm not sure about how much magnesium is in bananas, etc.  I drink a spoonful of Natural Calm in a glass of water most days.  It's a powder magnesium supplement.  And it really makes me feel calm, like, immediately.  It's awesome.

Huh! I wouldn't mind feeling calmer  ;)  I'll ask my midwife about it on Thurs. I was surprised my vitamin was so low, but it isn't the best one out there, even though the ingredients are all fine.

My new chiro really pushed adding DHA/fish oil today, so I'll be adding that. My medicine cabinet is starting to look like a pharmacy! Lol..

Ugh, so despite taking Hema Plex for iron (with emergen C, and separate from my prenatal which contains calcium) and eating spinach daily, my hemoglobin is lower than before. (6.6 when it should be around 11) :/ Never had this problem with my last pregnancy, but I was taking both chlorophyll and alfalfa. I'm going to switch back to Floradix even though it is much more expensive, add either chlorophyll or alfalfa (maybe both, although it might be a bit redundant since the chlorophyll I'd get is probably derived from alfalfa anyway) and my midwife gave me a some liquid vit. B drops to take 3 times a day in case a B12 deficiency is interfering with iron absorption. Looks like I better start eating steak a few times a week, too. I hope my levels go back up, and fast. My midwife seemed confident that the B12 would do the trick and not at all freaked out, but I'm stressing about it at the moment.

I take the Rainbow Light Ones, and there is only 100 mg in that as well (22% daily requirement). I think magnesium is a big mineral, and the pills would be huge if they tried to cram too much into them. So, I take a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement on top of that, plus another magnesium supplement as needed for all the cramping/contracting I have going on (I don't think it helps, but it makes me feel like I am doing something about it).

Seeds, nuts, and edamame are all great natural sources of magnesium.

Otherwise, I am just continuing what I have been doing all along:

2000mg fish oil daily

4000 iu vit D3

a probiotic

spirulina - though not daily (it is loaded with all b vitamins, including B12, iron, and chlorophyll)

.

I just bought a pound of loose leaf RRL- Frontier brand.

Do you ladies know if it's okay to drink cold? As in brew it hot, and then refrigerate it and drink it cold?

Also, does anyone have any tips or suggestions for brewing it? I've never made tea from loose leaves before!
