Sleep

DS was sick with a fever and vomiting Monday afternoon through Tuesday night and wow, it sure wasn't fun sleeping with him. Of course he wanted nothing to do with Dada, only Mama could comfort him. And all night he wanted to cuddle in my arms, waking every 1-2 hours crying out or startling awake. He was so pathetic, feverish, and sad :(

But add to that the fact that I need to get up to pee every 2-3 hours AND my hips hurt at night AND I sleep with a pillow between my legs AND I have RLS when preggo and you get a miserable mama too. Seemed like we were waking every single hour Monday and Tuesday night.

But DS woke up feeling fine this morning! Yay! Hoping tonight I can catch up on sleep.

How is everyone else sleeping now that we are all in or hitting the third trimester? Any tips for the rest of us? I remember after DS was born, that though he woke often to nurse, I LOVED sleeping without the big belly and aching body. That will be nice again in a couple of months!

Sleep is getting really rough for me too...can't get comfortable and up constantly to pee. :( I guess it's good training for when I'll be up with the baby? Certainly makes getting through the work day hard, though.

Ugh!  That sounds like ds and I, except ds isn't sick as far as I know.  He's going through this thing where he is half asleep, crying out, and just rolling all over the bed kicking his legs for like 10 minutes at least every 2 hours if not more often. I'm hoping it's that he has just now really started to walk more than crawl and that it will pass quickly.  Then of course there are my pee breaks to contend with and the fact that I am just getting to that point where my mind does not want to shut down.  I've been forcing myself to use the Hypnobabies tracks to relax before ds wakes for the 2nd time, at which point I bring him to bed me.  I'm still feeling ok physically.  No pain to keep me awake, though the lo does lots of wiggling right about when I'm ready to drift off.  I hate it, but I have been resorting to benedryl to help me get to sleep and fall back to sleep after ds's many wakings/rolling kick fests. Boo. Just waiting for the super discomfort factor to kick in and make things worse.  It's a good thing I am used to this sleepless thing!  Dh will probably have to take over sleeping with ds toward the end.  Which may be necessary once the lo gets here anyway. I don't know if I can survive sleeping with a newborn and the most wakeful toddler...

Oh also he's been waking up around 5 for good every morning for the past week.  He woke on Monday at 4:30, and I thought I was going to tear my eyeballs out.  I have been just passing him off to dh in the morning, turning on the white noise machine, putting in the ear plugs, and sleeping til 7 when dh has to get ready for work.  Glorious.  2 uninterrupted hours of sleep.  It's the little things.

Sleep? Who needs sleep? Lol, I've slept so poorly the past several nights due to a nasty head cold which kept me up until I passed out from exhaustion then woke up at least every hour to roll over. To top it off my outer thighs ache after I've been on one particular side for too long (kinda like I just did an intense thigh workout) and I also just got my first leg cramp in my calf this morning. Blech!!! I hate, hate, hate leg cramps and will do anything to make them go away (and stay away). Any thoughts? I've read stretching them, taking magnesium and calcium, and sleeping with my feet pointed out, not down.

Oy ladies, I am so tired!  It doesn't seem right that the sleep deprivation starts before the baby arrives.  I've been awake since just after 4 and now don't know how I'm going to make it through the day, at least ds has been easy so far.  Today is definately a t.v. day.  And I'm making burgers for breakfast, I neeeeeed one.  If 5 guys were open I'd be there already.

Count me in the counting sheep category.  I wake up about four times a night these days.  Baby wakes up, I wake up, sometimes DH gets her (he is so awesome!) and I can go back to sleep, but then I wake up again to visit Mrs. Murphey or get a drink or eat a cough drop or make some snack.  I thought newborns were only supposed to wake up like twice a night, my toddler is up four times and that doesn't count my body.  Maybe its some kind of reverse practice, where you get the harder part first and then the actual baby doesn't seem so bad.  It helps to do the whole side-lying with a pillow thing, but only for so long.  Sleeping isn't so bad, its when you have to finally move again.   I can't seem to get up without aching or twisting or spraining something!

August was a horrible month for me with sleep. Hubby's asthma was so bad, he would wake up 2 - 6 times a night. On top of my peeing every 1 1/2-3 hrs. I finally called the dr and he gave him a new prescription inhaler that seems to be helping. YES!  : ) I have had some hip and back pain at night too. Woke me up 3 times last week so I went to the couch and slept better a few hrs.
