My almost 14-month-old son has extensive food allergies including dairy, soy, nuts, seeds, garlic, various beans, and a couple of fruits and vegetables. He still nurses quite a bit when I'm home, and I'm still pumping at work so he can have breastmilk on the 2-3 days a week that I work. His growth has never been great, and we recently went to see a nutritionist just to make sure that he's getting enough and that his is reasonably well-balanced given all of his restriction. She felt like he was doing pretty well, but recommended a multivitamin because she felt that after a year he just might not be getting enough iron and zinc from breast milk any more. I had never planned to give a vitamin (though we did do D-drops last winter because we live in New England and were getting almost no sun), but given how restricted he is, I think it's reasonable at this point. I have started looking into multivitamins, but am a bit overwhelmed by all of the options.
Does anyone have a vitamin that they like for their toddler? I'd like something that is whole-foods based without any artificial flavors or colors, obviously.
Thanks!
