Hi Mummas

I have recently noticed that a lot of us are getting bogged down with fears and worries regarding bub! Or we listen to those horror stories when we shouldn't!
SO
I thought this thread could be a good pick me up for us all!
On it we can share nice birth stories, funny dreams, inspiring quotes and pictures.
Let's make a collage of positive goodness for us and our babes!!

This is beautiful for sure but all I can think is.....BUGS, lots of little annoying ones buzzing around me while I am trying to push! orngbiggrin.gif

Haha bugs.  I am thinking "but the birds!  I can't shut them up!".  We have birds, you see lol.  And I'm not a bird fan.

I'm watching some gorgeous birth videos, over and over.  And staying away from the ones that make me shout "stop touching her!  Give her back her baby!" etc.

These are current faves, plus the ones on my BW's site.

That is hysterical! The second the baby comes out that little boy is saying "give him some boobie mommy"!

She is a ROCK STAR! Standing up and catching the baby like that....awesome! She is so strong. Every bit of her was so toned and ready to have that baby!

This one, wow, I wonder where they are...somewhere very tropical it looks like? And once again I am so fascinated by what each woman needs to labor. My husband and/or my children or anyone else touching me like that in labor would drive me crazy! Also, so interesting how far apart her contractions are...so much different than my births.

Birth is so amazing...

The way the woman catches the baby in the german video is so cool!

And yes, having people all over me would absolutely annoy me.

Breastfed toddlers/kids seem to have a knack for hilarity!

I love this Ina May Gaskin quote. I know that it is partly because I am hormonal, but it makes me a little weepy every time I read it.

once upon a time when I was pregnant with DD1, I stumbled across a list of pregnancy/birth affirmations and I cannot for the life of me remember where as I saved them and not the source, lol

they are in a pretty random order, but I have handwritten ones I love on pretty paper and given them to friends at their showers/blessings etc. and chanted a few of them during some of my super duper LOOOOOOOONG labors :)

Pregnancy and Birthing Affirmations

My baby is strong and healthy.
I trust my body.
My belly is full of light and love.

I just heard a wonderful story about a woman who gave birth to her first baby at home - with the same midwife who attended HER mother when she was born. AND her sister was in attendance - she had been there when the woman was born, and was now there to welcome her niece :) Something about that beautiful circle of life makes me weepy every time I even think about it!

Here's another positive thing to share with you all. This birth story is a friend of mine who is a doula & owns a pre-natal massage clinic. She was also just accepted to midwifery school, and has offered to attend my birth for free as a student midwife (she needs 'clinic' hours). We have been friends for almost 20 years - long before being mamas was in either of our minds :)

Also, here are some of the photos from that birth (if you are a Signing Times fan, you will recognize Rachel Coleman, her sister, who is also a dear friend!)

Wow, that was really interesting.  Opening yourself up to the pain and just accepting all of it.  I'm doing Bradley where we are learning all these coping techniques and I'm glad to have all those tools, but this concept is something to think about.

Such beautiful posts! I was recently trying to explain to a friend how I feel about being pregnant again (with my third child) and what childbirth means to me. I felt like I stumbled over the words as usual, and I got that same strange look when I said that I enjoy labor and delivery. As usual. Yes, going the all natural route is painful and not normal in our society today, but I loved the experience I had when my son was born. With my first, my daughter, I was induced with pit, had an epidural, and thankfully at the time I was okay with it- had no feelings of disappointment, etc. The bottom line was that she was healthy. But with my son I wanted to try the natural way. My husband and I used a mix of breathing, a quiet room with minimal staff coming and going, and accupressure. It was a whole new empowering and awakening experience. We have our children in a hospital because the nearest midwife is over three hours from our small town in the midwest. Because of the 'give-me-the-epidural' attitudes my friends have, I was feeling lost and in need of some extra support, and found it yesterday. It's in the form of a book: and that is my comfort that I'd like to share with those of you who may have not heard of it: "Natural Hospital Birth: The Best of Both Worlds" by Cynthia Gabriel. She has such inspiring words and I know it will help me to have another good experience, no matter what may happen. For those of you who are inspired by the videos above: you can do it too!

So I thank you all who posted previously on this thread... I watched every video with tears of joy in my eyes, and plan on writing down some of those inspiring statements to help me come December.

Prenatal yoga has been soooo helpful to me this pregnancy and in preparation for birth. In class yesterday we did this "half moon" pose against a wall and also away from the wall with a partner spotting us from behind. It's the last picture if you scroll down this link: http://comfortinstylemag.com/yoga-and-you/prenatal-yoga-poses-to-ease-your-pregnancy-and-help-childbirth/ Anyway, the first time we did this pose a few weeks ago, I didn't like it. I felt unstable and out of control. Yesterday though the pose really moved me to develop a sense of safety and trust both in my own body and in knowing that someone else would support me if I needed them to.
