I really like reading autobiographies. Here are a few I thought of off the top of my head:

--Zen Under Fire by Marianne Elliott

--After Silence by Nancy Venable Raine

--The Road from Coorain and True North by Jill Ker Conway

--Love, Inshallah edited by Nura Maznavi and Ayesha Mattu

--She Looks Just Like You: A Memoir of (Nonbiological Lesbian) Motherhood by Amie Klempnauer Miller

--Girls Like Us: Fighting for a World Where Girls Are Not for Sale: A Memoir by Rachel Lloyd

--The Ponds of Kalambayi: A Peace Corps Memoir by Mike Tidwell

--On Writing by Stephen King

Katharine Grahm's Personal History is a good one.

I also liked The Queen Mother by William Shawcross.

warning - both are very long books

just autobiographies or biographies too?

any particular type? historical, modern, literary, cultural?

autobiog is a huge genre. for instance most actor/actress ones dont interest me.

how about off beat ones. I find all of Temple Grandins' books fascinating. including her mothers memoirs.

not really autobiographical but still... love letters of napolean bonaparte and the marx brothers.

i am a particular fan of history and culture. i love reading tales of simple everyday people, not necessarily famous historical figures.
