Anyone excited about their cloth diaper stash?! - Page 3

Funny how I've simplified as I have more babies. I started out with Kissaluvs, moved onto prefolds, and now I'm in love with receiving blankets used as flats and folded like prefolds. They wash and dry up so easily and they fit well inside a Bummis wrap cover without any pins.

We're totally loving prefolds with the wool shorties that I knit. I made 2 of them & that's been great so far. We have about 25-30 small prefolds & so far can wash every other day. But we're only on day 5.

Tried some of the random covers & AIO that I have & not happy with them.

I don't know the fold, but we do a trifold the long way then fold open the back - it seems to create a pocket to catch most of the poop then fold over the front which works for our guy then snappi and pull on the cover. Porter hates the cold wipes too. But we're not using many for the same reason Natalie mentioned.

Here's a photo of Porter in one of his shorties.

We are also using the prefolds with thirsties xs aplix covers, which is going great so far.  Lulu- we've had good luck with that fold as well.  And I can't believe how much I love the snappis!  I bought some pins but I can't imagine using them with how easy the snappis are.

I also have 2 kissas and 2 fuzzi bunz one size that we've been throwing into the mix.  Doing laundry every day right now.  The only thing I wish I had was a second pail liner.

How often are you ladies changing your little ones?  We usually change him right before I feed him (every 2 to 3 hours).  I'd like to change him more often b/c I hate to think of him sitting in a soiled diaper, but I also hate to wake him up while he's sleeping!

PS.  Lulu - that pic is adorable!  I wish I would have made some of those shorties for Torin.  I'm still hoping my mom will knit him a few.

I'm kind of a compulsive changer.  OTOH, my babies generally wake up when wet.  At this stage, we go through about a diaper per hour, on average.  Sometimes a bunch in a row, sometimes we'll go several hours staying dry.

My favorite diapers of all are BumGenius one-size AIOs - but the ones made of 100% cotton - I don't like fleece/microfiber at all.  DD2 is only 7 lbs yet though so they are still a little big even at their smallest adjustment.  I figure she'll be able to start wearing them in a week or two.  Right now we are using some home made and some commercial small contour diapers, with Bummis, Prowrap, and Nikkys NB covers (all aplix).  We also have a lot of Bumkins AIOs in sizes medium & large for later, larger contours, and small/medium/large covers.

We got a wipes warmer yesterday and I really like it. I just wish it ran on batteries because I change him on the bed at night and can't bring the whole unit over. He needs to be changed every hour because that's literally how often he poops!

I'm enjoying watching this thread now that the babies have started arriving! I have a dresser drawer full of diapers that I am eagerly looking forward to using : )

I tried to use pins and I stabbed myself. Definitely sticking with snappis.

I have an assortment of nb prefolds, snappis, fitteds, wool (a couple pieces, hoping to knit/buy more) and aplix covers. I discovered cding with dd1 and I can't wait to do it again!

Anyone using gmd pfs? Do you find yours to be not very soft? I have 2 dz and, compared to my 12 indian pfs, they are stiff.

MIne are stiff when i hang them out to dry, and soft when I use the drier.

Okay, I'm starting to get the itch to switch to cloth! At two weeks, Charlie is still only 6lbs, 12 oz, so I'm a little nervous about leakage. I have some newborn AIOs, some fuzzibunz one-size, and a few grovia and bum genius one size. I also have some one-size covers and a dozen yellow ("small") GMD prefolds. Just curious what your experience has been with using cloth on smaller babies and if it's worth trying at this point or if I should wait until he's up to 8lbs and has a little more leg chub to hold in leaks.

Re; the stiffness that comes from line drying... I agree! One thing I found that works well is to line dry and then toss them in the dryer for 15 minutes : )

My babes have mostly been around that size at birth, Chicajones. I think you just have to try each diaper & cover combo out and see what works. My aios have always been too big at that size but I don't have those brands. When dd1 was born I made some contours myself that we're just right for a tiny baby with the newborn covers I had & they've worked well for dd2 as well (although now that she's about 7.5 lbs or so and drinking lots they got pretty saturated.)
