Finding supplies

Thread Starter

Where can I find natural, preferably organic, supplies for crafting?  Stuff like unspun wool, yarn, cottons... I just have no idea where to begin to find the supplies to use!  Hobby Lobby doesn't exactly have an overabundant supply of stuff like this, at least, mine doesn't. ;-)  I'm hoping to make a bunch of Waldorf-inspired toys for my kids.  In my perfect world, I use non-toxic paints and dyes.  I hear that they have plant-based paints and dyes, how do I find those?

I like using these kinds of materials too and I've had the best luck finding materials like that online. Sometime I can find a mainstream brand that has stuff and then I know what to look for in my local art and craft store. (I was recently looking for water soluble oil paints and discovered that there was a mainstream brand that makes a water soluble oil paint line was highly rated by a lot of artists and my local craft store had it!) In terms of cotton, I just did a search of this forum about a week ago to find sources of organic cotton jersey; I haven't ordered it yet (I'm trying to calculate how much I need), so I can't give a personal recommendation, but I'm looking forward to trying.

I'm looking forward to hearing from others on this topic because it's great to have more resources for these kinds of materials.

Happy crafting!
