I'm so sorry Joanie!  I feel your pain, I do!  This is why I get anxious and upset about illness in my house b/c every single time my kids get sick, I do too.  Like you, I'm up with their issues and my issues all night long and not getting a break during the day to rest either.  The illness we had just before this last one was while dh was out of town, too.  And I'm  totally preparing myself mentally for it to happen again on his trip next month.  It just always seems too work out that way.  And I get really frustrated that when dh is sick, he gets to take off work and nap.  When I'm sick, I'm still on duty, 24/7.  So it goes, I guess.  I am very much looking forward to the day I can say, "we never get sick because we were sick 10 times a year, across five different states for 8 years when the kids were little."  That's the dream.  LOL!

But for now I say, I'm sorry you feel like crap.  I'm sorry Sora is keeping you up when you desperately need sleep.  I'm sorry you're dealing with poop everywhere.  And I'm sorry your dh is working while you're suffering.  Big ((HUGS)) to you.  In a day or so, you'll both feel much, much better and it will all be over for a while.

Yeah, I don't feel like there's a break to be had when I'm sick.  I did take a day off work, but I think I got 20 minutes of extra sleep out of it. I used to have a kick ass immune system; 12 hours of sleep one night and I'd be healthy again. Now I'm on day 4 or 5 of being weary and cranky and snotty. I've slept in twice since Shay was born. Ok, I think I need some coffee to get through today.

Joanie, I hope y'all feel better with the sun this morning.

Joanie - Hugs, I hope you guys feel better soon.  I've totally been there and know how it is.

Amanda - All I can say is, I totally would be feeling the same things if I was faced with daycare.  I've had to work my butt off and think outside of the box over the years, but I've always managed to avoid daycare, even when I was a single mother.  There may be other options if you keep your mind open to them.  :)

Oh, its the season for illness!  When school/daycare starts its just a germ pool.  A big, shared, germ pool.  We didn't even make it a week before someone got sick.  We can all just think of it as everyones immune systems getting ready for winter, right?

We've had the most innocent little illness going around our family. R had it first - just lots of snot and a mild (99.9) fever. Snot for days. Then DH had a sore throat, fever and was snotty (so I assume R had the sore throat, too) for a few days and now I'm sore throated and snotty, too. I don't feel like I have a fever.

But, this is R's first time getting sick, so I feel pretty good about that! Yay for breastfeeding! thumb.gif

I feel fall coming and it's so nice. I love, love, love fall.

R will be 1 next week, I can't believe it. We are flying DH's parents and siblings out for his birthday. We will have a full, full house! We have been getting ready, though, and we've got places for everyone to sleep.

And in my spare moments I've been working at my sewing machine putting together fabric bunting banners and a felt crown. How's that for stereotypical? LOL. lol.gif

No, it's cute!  I couldn't pull it together to do that even... all my kids' crowns have been paper.  I can't believe we're rounding the year and heading toward birthdays for our little ones!  Crazy!!  How are you feeling, Christina, as you reminisce about this time last year?

It is just crazy to think that this time last year I was getting pretty desperate stuck in my hospital room. it has been a quick year, thankfully!

I'm taking Sora into the doctor at 1:00. Her fever isn't as high this morning but she has slightly bloody mucous in her diarrhea... greensad.gif I figured it's just because her intestines are probably super taxed from all of the diarrhea, but I guess the doctor always wants to see a baby with this symptom.

DH stayed up after getting home from work and took care of Sora while I got 3 hours of sleep. That was wonderful. Whew. I'm not feeling as crazily on edge now. Til another night like last night happens, I'm sure... lol

Joanie, I hope she feels better. Soren just saw the doc for the same thing. Rotovirus. Kid isn't fussing at all.

Christina, yay for sewing! I'm just glad you ae getting a chance to do it now.

Amanda, most home care providers don't do that. And you probably won't have to do as much practice.

Avalon had that and seemed fine most of the time as well.  Thank goodness for breastfeeding!  That rota smell, though, that is something you never forget!

His just smells sour (but i may be oblivious, I work with poo). It's way green and mucousy with a little blood.

Sorry for those with sick kiddos. I know that's no fun.

I'm feeling better today. Jasper did really well today! Too bad he'll be going somewhere else... but at least we know he can adjust! He was so excited when I picked him up today. He was bouncing and screeching and practically jumped into my arms. luxlove.gif

Now I just need to get the hang of working and still maintaining the house and occasionally feeding my family. Lol.

Well now I feel kinda stupid that I brought Sora to the doctor for that if it's a normal occurrence for other babies... *sigh* Oh well. Sora's fever was at 102F at the doctor's office, and the doctor took a stool culture. We won't get the results back til Saturday. She gave me some take-home cups to collect more samples to test for Giardia/Cryptosporidium and C Diff, but I don't think I'm going to bother with those. They're expensive and I know from having Crypto myself before that Sora does NOT have it. Even the doctor didn't think C Diff was probable when she examined her, so yeah... not worth it. She's not fussy enough to have something bad. I think it probably is just a virus. She woke up covered in sweat from a nap this afternoon, and I think her fever broke then because she's been a lot happier ever since. She's energetic and crawling super fast everywhere, smiling more like her usual self, and eating more. Buying some diaper cream helped too, for sure. I didn't realize that it was like acid burning her skin from all the diarrhea. greensad.gif No wonder she was hurtin' so bad. (Oh, and I'm using disposables while she's got these issues, Jaimee. No way would I be cleaning up cloth diapers with that much of a mess! lol)

FX that she sleeps better tonight! I gave her a bath and put fresh sheets and blankets in her crib. Who wouldn't sleep well like that? smile.gif

Abra, I am excited that I have something new to season with now! I loved your roasted vegs so much that I made some of my own tonight and used balsamic vinegar for the first time (along with other seasonings). SO YUMMY. I'm going to have to use this balsamic with other things now... Recipe searches, here I come!

Conner had a 102 fever one day (Back in April), I called the doctor, and he saw him ASAP... It was a double ear infection and mild RSV.

We have the sore throat, runny nose, achy body thing going around our house right now. I had it, gave it to DH, and Conner has yet to get it. FX!!!

Anybody else's babies like to dance? We're watching Glee right now and a dance number came on. Sora crawled up to the TV stand, stood up against it staring at the screen, and started dancing with the music! banana.gif We need to catch video of it next time. Too funny! She is so going to be musically inclined. I can't wait to teach her piano. orngbiggrin.gif

Levi won't stand up and dance yet, but he'll rock back and forth excitedly on his hands and knees when he likes a song orngbiggrin.gif

Shay loves to dance! He picks up a phone and dances to ask us to turn the music on (an app). He dances whenever music is on.
