OMG I just threw up in my mouth a little bit! There are diapers in the pail from yesterday that I was washing this morning. I was pulling apart a pocket diaper and had 4 maggots fall out onto my arm. This was only YESTERDAY that the diapers were put in there. puke.gif

Joanie- I'm glad it appears to be working!  Hopefully you don't have to spray too many plants as the detergent can cause some damage to them.  Any luck finding the tree?  That first website I posted mentioned the reproductive cycle of the insects and how they are on a 10 year cycle.  Apparently we are in the heart of that cycle so next year will be bad again, too, but after that they should recede for several years.  Of course, if you locate the tree, you most likely will not have an infestation again.

Becky- usually that is a problem with poop diapers after more than a week of sitting.  Sounds to me like there may have been some in the pail/bag already or there was a diaper accidentally left in there longer?  I would suggest soaking the diapers and the bag/pail in Bac Out, bleaching, or adding 15 drops of TTO or grapeseed extract to the load.  And I'm sorry that happened... yuck, yuck, yuck!!!  Also, you might want to invest in some Bac Out to spray poop diapers to prevent this from happening again!

We are back from camping.  It was fun and lovely.  Shay took a liking to the fire and crawled toward it a bit excessively at first. I held him back at first but eventually I said, "The fire is hot. Stay on the grass." Can I tell you happy his compliance made me?  We used 36 diapers in 48 hours (9 per kid per day on average). I forgot the potty and Shay thought the outhouse was a joke.  He loved the river. Soren did not!

There weren't any in there longer than 2 days and I rinse them with the shower sprayer in the toilet before they go in the pail. I put some bleach and HOT HOT HOT water in the rinse cycle. I rinsed with hot water 3 times and now I've just started a wash with hot water. I didn't have this problem all summer. Now I'm glad that fall/winter is coming. Still really grossed out.

After thought, though, is that I didn't wash the liner with the last load, so maybe that was it???

Yes, that is likely it.  If there was some poop on the bag and it was left longer than a week, it could attract bugs.  I'm sure it will be fine now.

Sara, you are one brave woman to take the babies camping.

Welp, we have made it to WI.  We plan on being here for a few weeks, while we have a low-travel month.  After this we are going to head to Chattanooga, TN for about 6 weeks.  My dh's best friend is getting married in OH in Nov., so we want to stay in that area until after the wedding.  Joanie, your family should try to make it up here to the lake next weekend.  It's nice here and the lake is actually fairly warm this year!  Either PM me or I'll send you a message later.

Coralie is getting closer to crawling every day, but still isn't quite there yet.  Maybe next week?

Where in IL do you live?  We're only 2 hours from Chicago now, so it may or may not be close.  If you're within driving distance to me now you would also be welcome to come up to the lake house!

My IL's lake house is in Cedar Grove, just outside of Sheybogan.  I'm not sure what your schedule is like during the week, but we're pretty open and flexible.  We will also have a car to use while we're here and could head over that way, it's just that it's so nice here at the lake.  :)

We are about 5 hours directly south of you in Sheboygan in the city of Urbana, IL.  Looks like we could potentially be on your way down to Tennessee depending on what route you take!  Just let me know!!

Yeah, I'll let you know when we plan on leaving.  We still haven't firmly decided yet, 2-3 weeks probably.  We're generally flexible about the path we take, so it's totally possible that we could pass through there.

Ooo I'll PM you, Abra! thumb.gif We're just an hour away.

If you pass through MO, give me a shout!

We all went camping. I'm bold but not crazy. I would be willing to take them both on my own if they were both walking, but I can't cook while holding them both.

Abra, what part of Ohio in November?

LOL, Abra, remember when I joked that you could take a tour of the DDC?  Looks like it might be happening after all!
