Holy cow it's September! 9/2 weekly thread - Page 3

Aww too the moms also feeling the heartburn, I'm so right with you.  I try to avoid things that seem to make it worse, but sometimes even that doesn't seem to matter.  I have gone through a complete bottle of papaya enzyme and went out and bought some more!

Sending some placenta movement vibes to the two moms who need it!  The statistics are really good for you both that things are going to move and I hope that makes you feel better somewhat at least.  I had to deal with that with pregnancy #3 here myself and everything moved way high up and no issues from it after some light bleeding (I too wasn't 'allowed' to do anything for some weeks as well until things were out of the way).

I feel like something is wrong with me in a way, though I'm totally obviously pregnant and everything I don't feel like it's completely 'hit me' in a way yet.  The reality of everything--  probably because of the unexpected nature of this one.

So busy with family right now I can't even remember how pregnant I am exactly...someone else, if you're due on the 30th let me know how far along we are LOL.  ROTFLMAO.gif

Other strange news, I think my weight is just relocating itself.  I got a lovely gift of jewelry from a close friend last month and it did not fit me (ring).  Well, I tried it on today to show it to a family member and of course, now it fits.  I do think my face looks a bit thinner as well.  But yeah, the scale is about the same!

I LOVE that we are feeling baby move about! This is so fun!!
I had my first kick in the ribs this weeks, and yelled out in dico, fort and excitement lol!!
Sometimes I can tell where baby is, sometimes not.. Last week s/he had their head in my pelvis and their feet under my ribs and was swishing around like a tree in the breeze! It was hilarious!
Sego- we had a Little Foot incident the other day too! Soooo sweet!!!
Can a midwife tell the babes position by palpating yet? I am 25 weeks, and just love knowing where Albi is laying smile.gif makes me feel so connected!!

Things here have been a bit crazy... I went and saw my counsellor yesterday and we chatted about some deep links that i make between medical intervention and sexual abuse.. Obviously the two aren't connected, but the fear I hold towards both was starting to put them in the same basket... Anyway after a good chat with her and a great nights sleep, I feel NEW smile.gif soooo glad smile.gif

Quick question- I'm getting all the trimester weeks mixed up! Different websites and books say different things about which week is the week I tick over into third trimester? What do you think? I'm 25 weeks today!!! smile.gif. joy.gif

Sexual abuse and unwanted medical intervention during labor and birth ARE connected in a major way. And for survivors of sexual abuse birth can definitely be a different and challenging experience especially if you aren't feeling comfortable or supported by your attendants. Any unwanted touch during labor than triggers the emotions and the body's physiological response mirrored by the abuse can and will affect your labor--and slow progression in a MAJOR way. Forced medical interventions during labor--vag checks, AROM, any kind of unwanted touch IS a violation and since birth and sexuality are intermingled this can and often does trigger sexual abuse memories, feelings, etc. Birth can be a VERY tricky thing to navigate for women with sexual abuse history--whether the abuse is known or unknown--in fact many women only discover their past sexual abuse history after having labored and birthed and are re traumatized and begin to expereince memories of the abuse that they never consciously were aware of as an adult. This happened to me and it was VERY life changing. The fact that you are able to speak to someone now about it is important and can really help. Glad that you have the benefit of knowing this before labor, and it is really good if your attendants are aware of this, too, and can be of help to you emoptionally during labor. I found the necessity of having to let go of control in order for my body to birth was just too much for me--it was reminiscent of losing control during the abuse and I literally just couldn't allow it without being given pain meds to numb the experience and to take me out of it. I have heard this same thing mirrored in other survivors of SA--that the need to release control of their body was just too big to do without anesthetic. Of course, every mama is different and just as many have powered through that without needed pain medicine, too.

on a lighter note--27 weeks begins the third trimester and 26 weeks ends the second, so you have 2 more weeks in your second trimester ;) From what I understand.
