Book recommendation?

DH and I just finished Beyond the Rainbow Bridge, and I'm sort of looking for the next book after that one.  What would be a good one to read to help understand the 8-14 age group?

School as a Journey is a good book to understand the progression of grades one to eight, but it is mainly about the schooling aspects.  Beyond the Rainbow Bridge makes me feel so warm and fuzzy.
