And, there is a HUGE range for normal.  Beta base really demonstrates that  http://www.betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single

Does anyone know when HCG level stops rising?  My dh was really stressed today when my bloodtests did not show a double number compared to 4 days ago... It only went from 17002 to 175240 (I think...I know it was 17500 range).  He believed it should continue to double through the first trimester....but now I'm reading things that indicate it may stop doubling by week 6.  Does anyone here know about this?

I've read that once it gets over about 2000 or so it slows but it seems like there is a REALLY wide range for normal.  This article was informative.

According to everything I have read, when levels get that high, they slow way down. I am surprised you are still getting bloodwork at 6 weeks! Do you have a first appointment soon?

I have a hemorage...and my dh thought that might tell us something rather than wait for the ultrasound that's scheduled 2 weeks from now....  now I'm off to read that article posted above..... thank you.

Oh, I do hope that you are just at a point where it doesn't double as fast. Praying for you hon!! (((hugs)))

The doctor's office called this morning and want me to go in for an ultrasound this week or next...had to choose next Monday to suit my dh's schedule...  they seemed concerned but I know what I've read which is a LOT of evidience that HCG level at 6 weeks is not necessarily a good indicator of viability....so i am doing all I can to remain steadfast in faith...taking it extremely easy and praying.

orthodoxmom, hope everything looks okay when you go for the ultrasound! They may want to follow up a week later, too, so the waiting continues. Peace to you!

As long as next week gives me a GOOD reason to go back again, I'll be thrilled!  Thank you.

PRAYERS are appreciated!!!

I really appreciate your knowledge regarding beta hCG testing.  This info helped me to not worry so much about my first reading seeming low.  I got my follow up results today and my number is over 10 times what it was a week ago:  from 108 to 1248 love.gif
