Can't find a midwife.

We live in the sticks in SW Kansas and I can't find a midwife who is willing to come to me to help me have a home birth. I've already had a successful HBAC in 2010. The closest midwives are 4 hours or so away and none of them will come this far. I am getting so discouraged. I have had a couple who said I could come stay with them and they would "encourage" labor to start and then I could drive home after the birth. Ideas? Encouragement?

What about renting a vacation home (http://www.vrbo.com/) near one of the midwives?  I realize it could get expensive, but if you picked the week you feel like you're most likely to deliver in then it may work out.  Good luck.

I have family who live closer to the midwives and a couple have offered to let me stay with them (and I'm not comfortable with the idea of an induction, no matter how natural, as a VBAC mom). It just doesn't "feel" right. I have 4 boys who would be with me as DH can't be off of work for a long period of time. I question my ability to be comfortable somewhere else laboring. I have one more to call tomorrow.

how about seeing if you cant find a GP that would attend a home birth?

I will try looking but I seriously doubt in this area there is anyone who would do it. I can't even find someone who would "let" me VBAC in the hospital.
